    Three games to go.
    3 points clear.
We play 2nd place away in just over a week.
Get a draw there and we have an outstanding chance of retaining the title.
Their last two games are away to in-form Toon who want the CL, and and home to a QPR side that will battle for points.
Our last two games are home to Swansea, who have nothing to play for and a poor away record, and away to Sunderland, who have nothing to play for.
Get a draw or better at City and its ours. AGAIN.

Never underestimate the power of 3 points in the bag.

    Advantage United I think.

Good article, agree with what you wrote. Seems like a lot of knee jerk reactions by some users on our board today and everyone needs to calm down.

We always do it the hard way. I'm sure most of us would have taken being in this position at the start of the season. We're scoring goals, it's just slack defending that let us down today.

They've been playing **** for weeks, since the knew they were safe and knew they weren't going to get into europe. They're playing like they are already on holiday.

Of the two trips to the north east us and City have I am glad we have ours and they have theirs.

I'm also certain we'll hammer Swansea, the key game is (obviously) the big one v them.

Its not knee jerk from me. It been about having a big enough gap to be able to afford losing to city. Its a big two points to lose. We are still leading but now we need a great performance on monday and i dont think its out of order to be worried. We're now going into by far the hardest game of the season knowing a defeat is game over. Thats the bare situation.

As for the idea of city dropping points away at Newcastle. Its a tough game for them but we cant let it get to the stage where we're relying on other teams.

Hopefully we can all have a big laugh at my pessimism in a months time.

Bl**dy hell JC remember to remind me not to talk to you if I am feeling down. You will just tip me over the edge instead of talking me out if it.

Honestly I haven't met anyone as pessimistic as you. Yes we could have been in a position where we could have got beaten and still be ahead. But we have to live with the current position. A few months ago, all of us would have been happy to be in a position of having the destiny of the title in our hands, depending on getting a result in the derby.

Calm down everyone. Our position is still good as long as we regroup and play well against our main rivals. If we have to cower in fear at the thought of meeting them to get the title, then honestly we don't deserve to call ourselves champions.

We 'll get a result next Monday! Let's have some belief!

This. It was a disappointing result today, but on the plus side I thought attacking wise we were excellent. City must win and so there will be opportunities to grab the win ourselves, we just have to take them.

Yep. We just couldn't cope with Fellani. He won all the headers.

I have said many times that this has been a weird weird season. We f**ked up the CL, the FA tha CC. The Europa I think Fergie couldn't care less, he pretended to take seriously as he had been told off for being disrespectful.

Yes we coud have won the title at the derby. But we never o things the easy way. It is now all to play for. I never believed Mancini when h said it was all over last week. Mind games.

We must do everything we can to beat them but a draw is still good. Patient and solid defending and take our chances when they come. If we are behind in the second half, we'll just have to go all out and throw the kitchen sink at them and forget about GD. The GD gap is too big to bridge anyway. A 4-0 defeat is the same as a narrow 1-0 one for us.

I would say we are still favourites but just. The derby could finish City's challenge if they do not win. They still need to win the last 2 matches even if they win.
