RVP seems to be the frontrunner, but there are some rumours circulating that Wayne Rooney could take the prize. The results are being announced tonight. An Arsenal player has not won this award since 2003/4, so it would be great for RVP to get this recognition for a fabulous 2011.
True.. I hope RVP will be stung into action and start scoring, he needs to pull away again. He has an easier game against Norwich to do so.
A reckon that a British player will win it. 2010 : Drogba > Rooney -> Rooney wins it. 2011 : Nani > Bale -> Bale wins it. 2012 : van Persie > Rooney -> ??? van Persie has 27 goals and 13 assists in the league, Rooney has 26 goals and not even half the assists. 6 of his 26 goals were penalties. Would be ridiculous if he'd win. But it wouldn't surprise me.
Prepare to be disappointed. The players voted, which actually means a few people at each club gather together to vote for the British players. For a foreigner to win it they have to be so bloody outstanding that the players themselves will look like twats voting for someone else. That's the only reason RVP stands a chance. He should be getting 100% of teh vote, as he has been so far ahead of the next best player in 2011 its amazing.
