He may have played more games than Suarez,but Hernandez is an unknown quantity having come out of the Mexican league.I never said being an unknown is a bad thing.Its a good thing as long as you can get away with it.Luis Suarez is established and has been for the last 3-4 years.He arrived in Holland and was an unknown.But he's managed to every year spring an element of suprise.When defenders think they have him worked out...they haven't.He may seem like an unknown quantity in the premiership,but he'll do exactly the same thing.When defenders think they have him worked out...they won't.Hernandez has to do exactly the same thing or he'll be easy for defenders to work out,and he'll be considered one dimensional.

Carroll was expensive yes because of the window but also because of the hype growing around him throughout the season. With Torres moving in the window, Liverpool had to bring in a CF and one fast. Newcastle saw their opportunity and took Liverpool for a ride. Yes the lad has potential but ã35 million! No way. If Utd had paid that for Carroll or a player like him, the Liverpool fans would have wet themselves.
Pretty sure this thread is about LFC next season but anyways. Hernandez is good in his role, he knows it well and is an oppertunistic little bugger and a decent finisher and an even better header of the ball, the backflick header was magic, he is sharp when it comes to the 18 yard box. He is a bit physically weak for this league needs a bit of beefing up, linkup play needs a little work, please dont offer excuses, just pointing out their current status as I see it, he needs to be able to operate in other areas of the pitch effectively as Bolton covered the space and their physical presence he couldn't really match, so he was ineffective and subbed. All this he can learn in time and looks very promising indeed but lmited to the role he plays. Suares has a more complete attacking game, not as good in the air better linkup play where as Hernandez is a bit more of a box fox Suarez may beat two players and score where as Hernandez is unlikely to do that. Suarez typically contributes more to attacks in more areas of the pitch making it harder to pick him up where as Hernandez can as Bolton found out, can be found in the usual haunts. I dont really think you can directly compare them tbh, very different types of players, I woud say Hernandez is a specialist in that he plays a role a position more or less, it may vary slightly and Suarez is a versatile player and a good dribbler that can impact a game from almost anywhere in the opponents half of the pitch. His linkup play is good and his movement is also very good as with Hernandez but Suarez more so all over the pitch rather than in those 25 yards out and closer areas to goal. Suarez is also physicaly stronger and better able to hold up the ball or turn and cause damage. Hernandes may turn out to be a Ruud van Nistelrooy, he will get goals but I reckon will struggle in tough tight physical games until he muscles up a bit, Chelsea in the CL? I don't think he'll start in the first game but then again I ain't Fergie. Definately Berba and Rooney would be my starters and send on Hernandez with 30 to go to get at those tired legs of Terry. Not that I want ye to win but I would have someone run Terry ragged for 60 mins and send on the Mayan to finish th ejob. I reckon I would have Suarez over Hernandez, though mainly for the simple reason that we need his type of player more than we need one of the type Hernandez is, its that simple.
I think you'll find that we didn't let Torres go until Liverpool had signed Carroll (his physical wasn't allowed to start until Carroll had finished his and signed the deal). We agreed with Chelsea that Torres would be sold for whatever newcastle wanted for Carroll + ã15m. We didn't get ridden... Chelsea did
So what you saying is Liverpool had the ambition and foresight to pay ã35 million for a player who is yet to prove it in the EPL BEFORE Chelsea were allowed anyway near Torres. This is the same Torres you all worshiped, right?
I think if he turned out a flop yes, Berba gives us all the laughs we need. Seriously dude, first deluded and now taken for a ride, you were taken for a ride on Berba Carrick by the same club, spurs, interesting to see if ye shell out 30m for VDV if ye have it that is. Park Carrick Giggs Scles VDS Ferdinand Neville O'Shea Evans Valencia Anderson Berba ect ect. A list of players you should worry about, either age or just not good enough and need ot be replaced. With Chelsea City and possibly Arsenal to strenghten in the summer it bodes ill tidings for ye. We can only improve tbh so yadda yadda, we're on the up I think, ye are on the way down with far too many players ot replace to improve quickly and possibly Fergie leaving sonn too , then the arse will really fall out
It's interesting that you see the fact that we need to replace players as a problem, but the fact that you guys need to replace players as a positive thing. Not wanting to start another pissing contest, but I'd say out of your current squad only Reina, Carragher, Agger, Gerrard, Suarez and Carroll are good enough to play regularly for a top four side. And of those, Reina may leave, Agger is injury prone and Gerrard and Carragher are likely to need replacing fairly soon. Players like Lucas and Kuyt will be solid squad players for a top four side, like O'Shea and Park will be for us, but then Liverpool seem to be relying on Lucas and Kuyt whilst O'Shea and Park have hardly played for us this season. So you may need to bring in nine players worthy of playing at the top before you have a top quality side again. In contrast, all we need are a new goalkeeper (although we do have the Danish national goalkeeper on our books) and a new attacking midfielder, and all the players you've mentioned will be backups, except Valencia who frankly is the kind of winger Liverpool will need if they are to get the best out of Carroll. Like I said, I'm not interested in pissing or "you spent ãX on Y who is rubbish", but I honestly find it hard to be pessimistic when our current side, most of whom have either been injured or out of form this season, are still good enough to be top of the league and in two other cup competitions.

This is the reason why FSG allowed Kenny to sign him,because he does fit into their framework,a player that has years to blossom into the finished article.He doesn't have to hit the ground running,Some people seem to think just because you come with a massive fee,you have to score 12 hat-tricks a season.Andy Carroll has shown glimpses of his overall talent,and the more games he gets,the more he will show. If Berbatov had to have been judged on his first 5 seconds of football,he would have been called the biggest donkey to have ever graced the premiership.But in all fairness to Ferguson,he showed faith in him.And this season he has been rewarded for that faith. Kenny as an excellent manager will show Andy Carroll who as I said has a number of years to blossom,the same faith.
I have to say, when you take off your "anti- United" googles and talk like this, KPR, you make good, valid points... And I have to agree, people already calling Carroll a waste of money are speaking way to early...But, Unless you bring in the right players to bring out the best in him, he won't reach his potential... This summer, without CL. football and possibly EL. football, attracting the top, top players (to take you to the next level) may be hard, regardless of your "cash". but we'll see..
Kenny will identify players that want to play for the club irrespective whether Liverpool are in Europe or not.I reckon Liverpool will finish 5th anyway because Spurs currently have two fit centre backs...who are both injury prone.These are Deadleg King and Jonathon ''I spend more time on the treatment table than Darren Anderton'' Woodgate.
Very few top, top players will go to a club not in the CL., let alone europe, especially with the money the likes of City and Chelsea will throw at them alongside it.... This summer will be massive for those two clubs, with Chelsea's big dip in form and City's possible CL attraction we are going to see a few ã40- ã50 million players, I have no doubts. So I guess you'll have to hope they appreciate your "history" more than big wages and CL. football.. The likes of Charlie Adam, and Ashley Young will definately be drawn to Liverpool. But, if you sign the likes of these two, and City and Chelsea sign the likes of Sanchez and Hazard the gap from this season could be widened further.. It's alot of "if's" and "but's" to be honest though.. Nobody knows what this summer will hold, we can only hope it goes well for our respective clubs..
It seems the newcastle life has not done him well tbh, booze culture he likes maybe, some players, Merson Gazza Paul Mcgrath Best have a taste for it and there is not a lot a manager or club can do, it is down to the individual himself. He is young and hopefully will see sense but they are footballers not models of perfection, they got the same flaws as the rest of us
