well sunday is approaching fast and the mighty mackems are to be faced with the all wealthy boys at the com stadium. apparently their 25 man squad is in excess of 800million including transfers and salaries. whilst we all agree this is a ridiculous amount of money, is there anything to be afraid off.? Their italian manager has searched the globe for the magic recipe to win the league, but he is no jose mouriniho, but has he suceeded? no doubt they are a talented bunch of individuals but as a team maybe not the best as a team. With the sucess off our players through the break, a henderson goal, a wellbeck goal and a full cap, migs fine performances, muntari having a good game (at last) and a superb goal from our finest little baby jet. With all the wealth and riches in the world man city have not YET found the formula to sucess. Surely we can not be afraid if them, respect them offcourse. New found belief, new confidence, am i the only one got a good feeling about this? Lets face it, if you had that amount of monet to spend surely SAFC should be facing a stronger team. Maybe i will have to swallow my words after sunday, but we have beaten the big spenders at stamford bridge AT THEIR PLACE, Confidence should be running high, whilst i wish city good luck, i feel safc season may just about to have the kickstart it needs so come on, roll on sunday and lets "have it" KTF lads
They have some top players but also a couple I wouldn't put in "my" Sunderland team. Namely Barry and Lescott! I know a lot has been said about Balotelli and his attitude, but personally I can see a very good forward in there somewhere. Tevez is just world class as it is, skilled and works hard if we can stop him we stop City IMHO.
maybe after last night mancini will be saying the same about safc. well lets hpoe anyway. tevez is class mind
Tevez is frightening - and I don't just mean to look at. As regards the rest of their squad, I reckon that, on paper, we are very much a match for them. Unfortunately, the game will be played on grass.
Tevez and Kolarov are superb in my opinion. Most of the rest are 'very good'. We have a lot of 'very good' players, i don't think we need fear them.
It'll be a battle for control of the midfield imo. EDIT; Just been on the Citeh board and there's a rumour they've gone and signed another hardman from some place in Africa, anybody heard of a M Gaddafi??
On a serious note, I honestly believe that we have some very good players. Maybe not as good as the top 5, but not far off it. However, my worry is that there is some sort of spark missing at the moment. Some missing ingredient, and I don't mean another player. It was pretty evident against Liverpool to my mind. I thought the writing was on the wall the moment that Muntari went off. Not because it was Muntari, but because it was yet another instance of promise going out of the window. We'd started well, and I just thought to myself "it'll go downhill from here". It did. I haven't got a clue what the spark or ingredient is - if I did I guess I'd be earning wads as a manager. I just think that there's something not right.
WWY you have come close to something that has been worrying me for awhile, when you mentioned manager. I think it's time for Bruce to step up tactically and if something needs changing he has to do it immediately not when it's forced on him. And before anyone starts, no I'm not saying we need to get rid, but no one should be above criticism.
Bruceysbeak Think you'll find Kolorov is gash If you watched him every week you would see he's a park player City are very vulnerable down the left side of defence with Barry in front of lescott and kolorov but very few teams do their homework properly and they've got away with it a lot
not at all but from what i hear they gave him a good pounding, and just like the old phrase "he dont like it up em"
Just wondering what you thought of your manager? Too often it looks to the outsider he plays negatively even against teams City should be steamrollering.
Very disappointed in him tbh People point to us being third and in the facup semi final which obviously is a success compared with the last 3 decades of garbage we've been subjected to.But I can't think of any manager currently in the premier league who would have struggled to match what mancinis achieved with the bottomless pit of a transfer kitty and his man management with Bellamy and Adebeyor looks even more pathetic when you consider they've basically been replaced by the halfwit Balotelli.I think if we had been more attack minded then we would be much closer to the top but lack of a plan B has been alarming at times By the way couldn't believe Bent moving at best sideways to villa when you had rescued his career
I'll admit my opinion of Kolarov is based on his time at Lazio, where he was sensational, i ain't seen him much for City. For Lazio he was strong defensively, and he scored memorable goal after memorable goal, not only from set plays, but just supporting the attack. I'll take you're view if he's been found out by the pace of the PL.
commachio, back to your OP. I recon they have bought a fantastic squad but this, as yet has not translated into a fantastic team...........unfortunately good enough to beat us…….. away win written all over it.....sorry
