Arsenal4life, I remember reading this thread a couple of months back and thinking it was hugely optimistic. Shows what I know! I just hope you've put money on this.
Arsenal4Life - kudos for this thread .... it makes some people look like the ass wipes they really are This ought to be linked to a new thread on the Spurs board
Well now: After 20 games Spurs had 45 points and after 34 games they have 59. 14 points from 14 games (close to relegation form). That is a collapse of monumental proportions. A real bottle job. Us after 20 games, 36 points, and in the next 15 we have taken 29 points (actually only a slight pick up on form from our first 20). We've played both halves of the season pretty much the same, but Spurs have imploded.
The spuds had been performing at an abnormally high level and we low. Things are now pretty much back to normal, or will be when they finish 6th.
We won't come 5th - been saying this for ages now. 6th at best - 7th if Everton keep up their good form.
You were not saying this in January. To be fair very few were (credit to A4L for understanding that Spurs were going to completely bottle it)
We were flying all the first half after the first 2 games. I think most Spurs fans expected a blip - nothing like this though. EDIT - I've actually been saying it since early March - earlier than most.
Nope. Even during your good run you were poor and lucky. You have poor players and a poor manager. Even your top players arent good, just hyped by the media. Parker, Bale, Lennon, Defoe, King, BAE, Walker - dont rate any of them. They are all poor players. Ok bale has potential and king used to be good but the rest are just not good enough
If you take away the Chelsea thing, 4th is a decent result - add in the decent FA Cup run and yeah, most Spurs fans (myself included) would've taken that at the start of the season. But add in the Chelsea issue (and as I said in the other thread) - it seems as if the planets are aligning for Chelsea to win it this year and suddenly this week is gonna be ****
Yup. I think its unfair though. I dont think they should get in it at the expense of you even if they win it. Lets be honest. Chelsea beat a crap group then: Napoli - 5th best side in italy Benfica - 2nd best team in portugual Barca - 2nd best team in spain Bayern? - second best side in germany So I dont really see how they can be crowned "european champions" when they havent even played a side who is top in their country and arent even close to the best side in england. If they win it it will be a hollow victory.
Try telling them that. And you can only beat who gets put in front of you - I thought Napoli and Barca would beat them but it hasn't happened - the same way everyone was waiting for Newcastle to fall away (only really the last 2 matches). Chelsea parked the bus against Barca, which is pretty much the only tactic they could use with their squad - it worked and Barca were ****. They're in the final by right and they deserve it - they've answered their critics at every step. I just hope their luck finally runs out.
