Indicating that a side who have climbed 46 places up the football league ladder in 20 months have ''bottled it'' after being beaten away from home by a wonder goal from a play-off chasing side, after having been wronged by an awful refereeing decision tends to exclude you from the bracket of being a 'proper supporter'. Of the two polar extremes on this forum: a) the 'let's keep perspective/ get a grip/ i can express and control my emotions more rationally' bunch and b) we're ****in' ****/ adkins is clueless/ we should win every fackin game/ guly is a ****bag lot i would say on behalf of the majority if posters on here that we'd wipe out b) over a). Despite their smugness at least a) to the neutral fan don't make us appear a bunch of ungrateful, thick pricks as a fanbase collectively
We drew v blackpool home and the pompey game, (not that that's much to brag about), to be fair those matches are fairly forgettable so I don't blame you for overlooking them
I did not say he was impressive, I merely stated he was the closest Saints player to scoring in the second half. I agree with you partially that maybe he should have been playing higher up the pitch, however if you have watched recent games you will note that he has been brought on to control the play and sit deep. That is what he has been told to do.
Well, there's that and the fact that, despite all the times our season has been definitively ruined by our horrible bottling team, we're in all likelihood a draw against a relegated team from gaining our second straight promotion. There are times when pulling one's hair out is warranted...we haven't stumbled across one yet this year, though.
Please show me where I said that? I believe I said I was unimpressed with guly and that he didn't bring impact. I'm a Steve fan but that's not what I said is it?
I don't support Southampton, but I want your team to go up. You lost today to a wonder goal and a referee who bottled making a straightforward decision. I realise it must be awful having to wait another week before you can put it right, and the week will drag. But your team have done incredibly well to be in this position. If someone had said to you a couple of seasons ago that if you won your final match of this season to get promoted to the Premiership, then I'm sure you would have taken it. Fans are upset at tonights defeat, and some may be posting comments that they might regret. Stick together and keep the dream alive. Good luck for next Saturday.
You won't have seen me when I'm hysterical, but as I'm sure you can tell, I'm not. I'll take your third lack of an explanatory response as a white flag, and will accept graciously the semi-apology for your original unfounded internal WUMism.
If this is how you get at the end of a season like this one,you should probably give up saints next season. We'll probably lose more games, and I wouldn't want you killing yourself or anything.
Jesus still on this.. I'm sure the Coventry players and their fans will be just as motivated for the game next Saturday as Portsmouth were for potentially the last South Coast derby in a decade. Happy?
West Ham didn't beat Doncaster or Bristol City in recent weeks either. I've got no idea where your taking this arguement, but hey.
I think we may have gone for it more today if we really had to, but can I just sing the praises of Bristol City, for - despite doing the double on us - without that draw against West Ham (and assuming West Ham, having more to play for, will beat Leicester on Monday), we might be going into the final game of the season level on points with them. And that's something I don't think any of us would want!
My good friend just up the page there actually covered it pretty well, so consider that a sort of second-hand response.
Cheers Andrew, it often takes a fan from another team to show the perspective of the situation. One thing is certain, our manager will keep the team on a level and we will be fully prepared for Saturday, although I have a sneaky feeling that Leicester will do us a favour against the Hammers. Good luck to the Gills for the future.
