Honestly, we're on the verge of winning our 5th league title in 6th years that's a great achievement by ther way, and we get called average, look around the top 10 and half of them haven't improved, look at Chelsea, going from challenging for the title to maybe missing out on top 4, and they have alot of poor players in their squad, Arsenal haven't improved this season either but they are going to finish in the top , Liverpool spent £100 million pounds last year and they won the carling cup and have got europa league football to play for next season.
You're at the top of a pile of pretty average teams. Yeah overall the league is very enjoyable to watch (the best league to watch imo), but technically it is pretty dire (in comparison to La Liga). It would be interesting to see how both Manchester clubs would do in La Liga for a season. Also I wonder how Barca and Real Madrid would get on in the the PL.
In La Liga United would win the league. There is nothing poor about the Premier League. Nothing at all. In European football if it wasnt for Barcelona and only Barcelona, English clubs would of done even better in recent years as far as Europe goes. La Liga is a much more open league, its not more technical its just the technical side of it seems more apparent because defenders sit off. Players dont get the space or time in England as much and thus have less time to think about their next move. Players have to be quick minded in england where in spain and the rest of Europe its more relaxed. Relaxed doesnt mean better. If Barcelona hadnt had their greatest ever period then Spain wouldnt be world champions and no spanish club would of won the Champions league in 11 years. That is a certainty. 2 English clubs have won the CL in that time and another 2 have reached the final. One year in a decade English clubs dont do well in Europe, 1. I will end where I started, Man Utd would walk La Liga!
We are the perfect league team, we have dominated the Premier League when its been just another league, the best league in the world and at this very moment. Barcelona, Real Madrid would be our challenges but over the course of a season the rest of the league would be easy picking. Remember league games are nothing like Champions League or Europa League games. Whole different approach and mentality in these games and a mentality that United are the global masters of. We would win any domestic league on earth we took part in.
Quite an easy thing to say when there's no way of proving for or against it. Given Barcelona and Madrid are far better sides at the moment, all in my opinion of course but on paper they both have excellent sides, I doubt you'd 'walk' their league at all.
Far better? Based on what? Both still being in the Champions League. Well so are Chelsea and technically Chelsea are currently better than Chelsea based on recent results and I doubt you consider Chelsea better than United. Real Madrid are for the first time in 11 years having a better season than United in Europe. You could say in terms of league football United and Real are having similar seasons while United are having a better season than Barcelona. Cup football is hard to judge, its best to judge on league football over a few seasons as its quite easy to compare La Liga and the Premier League as they are easily the 2 best leagues on earth. United have won 4 out of 5 titles and are on course for 5 out of 6. It was a whole different era when we last didnt play some part in the Champions League and the lowest position we have finished is 3rd in over 20 years. We are the ultimate league side, set up perfectly for the gruelling league campaign. We dont always do well in cups but we almost always do well in the league, regardless of the challenge.
I'm not doubting United are a good side and their domestic record is excellent. I just think both the Spanish teams have better players.
On paper yes but its a team game and a funny one at that. Wouldnt win it every year ut we would easily challenge every year and finish in the top 2 at worst.
It would be interesting to find out though. Maybe a swap, Barcelona or Real Madrid come to the Premier League and United go to La Liga for 1 season. Impossible obviously as the costs for away games would be huge ha.
All speculation. The reality is that we would never know. What is Not in dispute is Utd's and Fergie's ability to do well in the league, getting points and wins even though not on top form. The lower teams in the Liga are less formidable than their counterparts in the prem.
From a Liverpool fan, and it hurts to say this: Compared to your squad of a few years ago your squad is looking alot more average. But: You have a world class manager Your consistancy is world class and your team spirit is world class It may not be enough to compete at the very top against the likes of Barca, but it is easily enough to deal with the egos of Chelsea, the frailties of Arsenal, The chokers od Tottenham, the recent inconsistancy of Man City, the Bad buys of Liverpool. Man Utd play at a good level or above every week, the only other team in the top 8 that consistantly plays to their potential is Newcastle. Whilst fergie remains at Utd this wont change......It is up to the other teams to achieve Man Utd consistancy even if they have better squads........... Man Utd are consistantly good and I hate them for it
Spot on. Chelsea and City are evidence that money isnt the be all and end all in football. Its about much more than that. A team of decent players that work hard for each other and have world class outlets like Rooney will always be up there even against the worlds most expensive squads. Fergie has built into United than every player is as important as the last and we win as a team, draw as a team and lose as a team.
First time I have ever been on the united board and I can't believe some of your posters think that united would win the spanish league. United were totally outclassed home and away by athletic bilbao currently 11th in their league. However, no doubt man u easily the best team in england but the united of hughes, cantona, keane, young scholes et ecetera would beat the current team between 5 and 15 nil. The premier league gets worse year by year hence the worsening european performances. However, I would exclude paul scholes from any of the above who is the best player i have ever seen play live.
