Sporting Kansas City will host English Premier League side Newcastle United F.C on Wednesday, July 20th at Livestrong Sporting Park. The match will be included in all Kansas City season ticket packages.

“This match will continue the presence of prominent soccer matches in Kansas City and will be an outstanding opportunity for supporters to see Sporting Kansas City play against another strong team from the English Premier League,” Sporting Club CEO Robb Heineman said.

“We are excited to bring a club that has such a passionate following and we are hopeful that their great fans will join us in Kansas City at Livestrong Sporting Park on July 20th.”

The match is the second international event scheduled for the brand-new state-of-the-art stadium at The Legends in Kansas City, Kansas.

“Myself and the team are really looking forward to coming to America in the summer and playing against Sporting Kansas City,” Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew said.

“We’re planning a few days training in Kansas City before the game, which will form an integral part of our build-up for the 2011-12 season. I know Manchester United were in Kansas City last year and went home beaten, so we know full well what a tough game it will be for us, but that is exactly the sort of challenge we will be looking for.”

In preparation for the friendly, which has been brokered by Santio Sports and Entertainment, the EPL club is expected to hold training sessions at the Sporting Club Training Center in Swope Park (formerly Swope Park Training Center, 6310 Lewis Rd., Kansas City, Mo) from July 17 through July 19 as part of their pre-season.

VIP packages, including the opportunity to attend a Newcastle United training session, an exclusive autograph session with Newcastle players and a coaches’ clinic with the team's technical staff, will be made available at a later date.

“We’re delighted also to be able to put on a technical clinic for the coaches in Kansas City, which we hope will assist with the development of the sport in the region," Pardew said. "It should be a very good week for all concerned and I would like to express our thanks to the people of Kansas City for extending the invitation to us.”
Construction work on the 18,500 capacity livestrong Sporting Park began in January 2010 and is scheduled for completion in June. The name reflects a newly-announced tie up with the LIVESTRONG charitable foundation fronted by cyclist Lance Armstrong.

Sporting Kansas is the current incarnation of the Kansas City Wizards team, established in 1996. Newcastle last visited the USA in 2000 when they played friendlies against both DC United and Columbus Crew.

    I'd love to go.

Watch NUFC play and then go to a 400 acre site dedicated to buying hunting paraphernalia!!

Also, is Pedro going to take part in the technical coaching sessions? I'd love to see how the Americans react to hearing him talk....

Sounds awesome. Not sure EasyJet fly to Kansas though, so could be quite pricey.

If it was played closer to Miami I'd go.

My Dad lives in Miami so I could treat it as part of a 3 week holiday without the missus feeling I was only going for the football.

This is just rumours, but a game with LA Galaxy has been mentioned. That would be easier for flights.

Well one of the lads that sometimes goes with us is a pilot for Virgin(handy). He has worked it out that it shouldn't cost more than £1000(they get friends and family discount of up to 3 people). I finish uni on friday and have put my name down for a shift on almost every day in April and May(except when NUFC are playing or other circumstances) so I could afford it. We want to do it as it never happens often.

    Official translators?

We play foot-ball. No. Not that foot-ball. Real foot-ball. You're thinking of the gay sport with pads and helmets.
