This international break seems to have lasted forever, but now there is only a few days left of waiting before we once again experience another emotional weekend as Toon fans. Will it be the ecstacy of a home win which will almost secure safety (and we can unclench our bumcheeks), or will we have to endure the agony of defeat and really be dragged into the mire of the relegation fight?

A victory against Wolves could push us back up to 9th if Sunderland lose at Man City and Stoke get beat by Chelsea. With 39 points and 7 games remaining we would virtually be safe and we could really enjoy the last few matches of the season, and hopefully add to Villa's ****e season next weekend.

A loss could allow the clubs below us to catch us and relegation would then be a very real possibilty. Another loss could really affect the team's morale and confidence.

I am getting nervous already and will be relieved when the game is over and we (hopefully) have the 3 points. I haven't felt this nervous about a game in ages and I truly believe that this result could be the most important of our season.

So I am going for a scrappy 2-1 win and me getting totally pissed in the evening.

I love your optimism, but I have a feeling we will only get a draw. Feel free to get pissed anyway though.

In think this is pivotal game v4.0 now.

v1.0 was winning to get into a European place
v2.0 was the same as results during v1.0 left the table unchanged
v3.0 was putting space between ourselves and the bottom 3
v4.0 must be to get towards 42 points and safety.

It's a must not lose match in my opinion.

Prediction? Newcastle win but a close run match.

I'm very nervous about this one. We haven't been winning enough of our home games and Wolves have made themselves hard to beat in recent weeks. My heart says we must win this game but my brain says we will only get a draw.

going to say a win for us. confident of the 3 points like. close game though. hope besty's back for it and he gets started up with with ranger. but who knows. injuries have ****ed this month up really.

these weeks have gone so slowly. march has been a very bad month for us, glad it's over! (almost)

it's taking me ages to actually post something. using the internet in the uni library. taking a break from essay writing of course, writing about the confusion between reality and fantasy and the idea of hyperreality and some french philosopher guy in relation to a robert de niro movie wasn't my idea of english literature! makes my head hurt...

Heart says 2-1 win but head says 1-1 hopefully Mick will tell his group of scum known as players to go out and kick us off the park and get a red card or something that could win us the game

aye i've got a feeling it's gonna be this sort of 'game-changer' that's gonna win it for us.

never mind though. as long as we get the 3 points, i'm happy.

    2-0 to the Toon.

They're without their "Starman" in Kevin Doyle... I cant see them posing us much of a goal threat to be honest.

Exactly I don't care how we win as long as we wrap up the 3 points

Acid-Hippo, I did hyperreality as part of my Geography degree. Umberto Eco was the bloke I think. I found it really interesting. The reproduction of places or things in new places but without the bad bits. Therefore things become 'realer than real, they become hyperreal'. Vegas is the ultimate example of hyperreality.

Back to the game, a nervy win with one goal in it. Maybe 3-2. Must win is an understatement but we can beat them.

Yeah I agree, he's something of a talisman for Wolves and if we're up for it we should be too much for them. If our lot aren't up for it though, well, I might be drowning my sorrows on Saturday night.

Yeah saw Eco's name whilst I was reading up about it. I've gotta do mine mainly referencing Jean Baudrillard though, bit of a crazy guy who tried to claim the Gulf War never happened, also called Disneyland a hyperreality too I think, and some stuff about prisons.

But yeah, I'm going for a 1 goal win as well. Not sure we'll score 3 and them 2 though. Little goals in it to be honest, what with them having Doyle out. 1-0 or 2-1 at a push to us. Hopefully. I'll take any scoreline as long as it's a win for us haha.

Umberto Eco, as in the author of The Name of the Rose and Foucaults Pendulum?

While I was in the library a guy walked in wearing the 95-97 long sleeved home shirt!! think it was that one anyway. brown ale, looks very retro? I always feel like I have to make conversation when i see a guy in a Newcastle top. Didn't though. Just stared in jealousy at his shirt. lovely thing. might buy it.
