I have looked into this and i can say that i dont think it will affect us too much. The offence is punishable by 3yrs imprisonment and or a fine. As this is his first offence i believe he is unlikely to be locked up. So a fine is likely, then he has the chance to mitigate if he pleads gulity early. As for the Assaulting a police officer, its more than likely he just pushed him or swore at him.

He only was in the newspaper because he is a footballer. This behaviour probably happens all the time. What was he doing out at that time anyway he is a professional sportsman and should be certain he gets enough rest.
Probably? Every single Friday and Saturday night in just about every single Town/City across the UK there are people swearing/cursing at the police, starting fights, drunk and disorderly etc etc. They get 1 night in a cell and thats that.
