At present we are pretty well stocked as far as wingers are concerned with walcott, gervinho, AOC, pod (hopefully) and i imagine ryo. Its hard to keep all these talents satisfied imo and next year this position will be intensely contested. Some however will be inevitably left disgruntled and ultimately leave. Given the array of talent at our disposal who do you feel will be left to rue his missed chances and head for the exit door next year and do you think there is a chance any of them will leave this year to finance expenditure in other areas. I think they all deserve at least another year but it might adversely affect team spirit if some are left out. Quite a dilemma i think though i think its a good one to have compared to the other extreme.

Walcott, Chamberlain and Podolski aren't wingers by trade. Walcott and Podolski are strikers that can play on the wing and Chamberlain is a centre mid who can play on the wing. :)

pod plays there for germany and who do yo see replacing rvp. Walcott will not be given a chance until at least three years imo. Still has a lot to learn. AOC will play on the wing for the forseeable future especially considering we are reportedly in for another attacking mid and i think we will get one.

Podolski plays there for germany because he can't touch Gomez or Klose! Similar to Scholes and later Gerrard being forced onto the wing for england (stupid decision). Van persie will probably have 2 more top class years at arsenal (if he stays which I think he will) so in the meantime I'd use podolski out wide with him filling in for van persie when he needs a rest or is injured up top.

However if I was your manager i'd of changed formation by now.

Something like 4222 Still gives you two wingers but you could play two strikers as well and space for two midfielders one out and out anchorman (song if you can teach him to be one) and one deep lying playmaker/box to box (wilshere) the two wingers in my opinion should be oxo and walcott with podolski and van persie up front. The beauty of that system is the capacity for the front 4 to be constantly roaming and taking each others positions.

That would probably be best but i still see one or two leaving. 4222 is interesting but with the added trade off of less accomodation for midfielders leading to an exodous of midfielders! Interesting though guess we will have to wait and see.

Nah that's the beauty of 4222, the 2nd 2 can be either wingers of midfielders like at city sometimes is silva and nasri but sometimes its players like johnson. So you could play rosicky there benayoun (sp) etc etc

Nope, Podolski played on the left of a front three for Cologne all season also. (In fact he scored 21 goals from this position)

His best position is probably down the middle but there are very few guys around who can score 20 odd goals a season from a wide position.

    4-4-2 is an antiquated system.

The wide players on a 4-3-3 are not 'wingers' they are not part of the midfield.
With a 4-3-3 (like Germany play) you play three forwards.

I wish people would understand the difference, its not the 1990's anymore.

I never said he played up front for Cologne (although I admit I thought he did), just my main point that his true position is as a striker :emoticon-0148-yes:

Next season is gervinho's season, i think he will really have settled and adapted to the english game by then and we will really see how good he is, also oxo will have matured and will be a delight to watch, this loan spell at bolton is very important for ryo and he will definately make his mark, it is hard to determine how podolski will do. I don't think wenger sees him as a winger tbh, i think he would maybe want him to play with rvp but then again i think we are at our best when we play 4-3-3. I know walcott has been playing better recently but again when next season starts and teams come to the emirates to defend deep he is very ineffective and i think that he will ultimately lose his place in the side. Also joel campbell will be coming into the side but it is hard to predict if he will make an impact next season.

  11. If RVP leaves I think we will see Podolski playing just behind Walcott up top next year, with AOC getting time in the middle and on the wing.

I think it is time for us to switch back to the number 10 playing off a fast striker.

Gervinho will play, and Ryo will likely get limited time or go out on loan again.
