The stark statistic from that list (forgetting that it is Wikipedia and so may not be true) is how rich you have to be these days to even own a club in the second tier of English football. Clubs which typically are termed as having little money, such as Doncaster and Barnsley, are owned by someone worth nearly £30m!! Gone are the days when a businessmen with a fair bit of cash and a lot of goodwill could take over a club and make it progress.
For those of you who like statistics about football finances here is a very good blog on the subject. Mainly about QPR it does include Watford in some of the tables. http://swissramble.blogspot.fr/2012/04/queens-park-rangers-hoop-dreams.html?utm_source=BP_recent
Morecambe - couldn't stand the man or his partner Wise. Seriously though, I've not heard too much bad said about Madejski. Reading seem to have prospered under his ownership - I remember the "Biscuitmen" being a tatty little club with a tatty little ground (which I've been to - many times) which had never been above the third tier of English football. Bit like us in the mid 70's, when SEJ bought the club - except that I suggest Madejski has left a more lasting legacy - if not the magic of 2nd place in the top league, a Cup Final appearance and a venture into Europe.
I loved that interview with Peter Crouch in which, when asked what he would have been if he hadn't been a pro footballer, replied 'a virgin.'
Am I right in thinking Madejski is about to sell out half his share in the club to a rich Russian? Another drawback to single wealthy ownership...there's little control over how they dispose of their assets.
