The form of young Alex has not gone unnoticed by his country. In a turnip (ouch!) for the books, after only 3 1st team outings, he is being considered for the Swedish Euro 2012 squad - http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/london-sport/fulham-fc/2012/04/20/fulham-youngster-could-be-handed-shock-euro-2012-spot-82029-30801768/ Wouldn't that be just terrific.
Fantastic news 58 Who was the last Swedish international we had at CC by the way? We seem to have invested in Finnish (Niemi, Kallio, Litmanen, LDV) Norwegian (Hangeland, JAR, BHR, Nevland) Danish (Andreasen) and Icelandic (Gudjohnsen) but I can't recall any Swedish.
Yes. Good call, fulhamireland. How many competitive games did he ever play for us? I saw him in a pre-season friendly away at Bournemouth (Danny Murphy seemed to be telling him off a lot for positional lapses) but never in a game that counted.
My tip for success in a few years time is another Scandinavian, our Finnish 19yr old goalkeeper Jesse Jeronen
Signed by Hodgson if I remember rightly, as were a number of other Scandinavians. Don't seem to remember him getting much game time ahead of both Paul Stalteri, Chris Baird and Stephen Kelly. Had a loan spell at Derby I think where he was also turgid.
Stalteri's loan finished before we signed Stoor, I think. As I recall, he delayed signing to help his Swedish club get through the qualifying rounds of one of the European competitions, and as a result John Pantsil got the chance ahead of him. Pantsil kept the shirt, and Stoor's time with us never really recovered.
How the hell could I forget Pantsil!? What a hero that man was. And yes Bidders, Elm certainly was Swedish. 100% Swedish, 100% useless
