They wasnt. Mills was 4M rising to 4.5M and Beckford was 2M rising to 3M. The media just sensationalised every figure. We paid nothing like what they said but we still over paid Any players there you would fancy at Hull?
Well i liked Wellens and when on his game is pure class. Maybe he needs a change ? Beckford also but not on 45k a week that for sure.. Other than that nothing stands out that would improve us. Maybe Wolves will look for a bargain from you after their firesale..
Not really any of them, thanks. Your big problems are Mills and Beckford, they're on Premier League money and they're not Premier League players, we know only too well what happens when you get yourself into that sort of a situation, we're still paying now(though thankfully next season will be the last of the hangover from the last regime and we may even get things sorted in the summer).
Beckford isnt on 45K. Our wage structure only always 30K tops. Yakubu wanted 40K but we told him he had to come down to 30K and he didnt want to thats why we didnt sign him. Nugent, Mills and Beckford are all on about 30K
I don't mind Wellens, I'd put him top of the list you've mentioned, but he's 32 now and there's probably better options available.
Schmeichel? Marshall? Your struggling to find a decent keeper and Schmeichel has been our best player. And Ben Marshall has been some find by Steve Walsh
I wasn't picking from your entire squad, just the players you'd mentioned. Barmby actually wanted to bid for Marshall, but the deal wasn't sanctioned(I don't think the owners wanted to get into a bidding war with your lot).
Thats still way to much for me. 10-15k tops each of em. The figures i gave were the ones bandied about last summer. Sorry. I would take Wellens and Beckford on 10k each in a heartbeat. Maybe Nigel Adkins will try and reUnite Sharp and Beckford @ Southampton.
Well thats about it anyway. There really isnt alot to pick from Schmeichel, Peltier, Morgan, Drinkwater, Marshall, Dyer and Nugent. Thats about it, the rest are easily dispensable
Yeah alot of numbers was knocked around by the media. But it was too easy for them, Sven with an "open chequebook" We many countless mistake and went about promotion like a bull in a china shop. It will be different next season. If you can keep hold of your players and get some better strength in depth and some strikers i think you will do well next season aswell
I'd like to see us go for Wellens or Howard if they're available on a free. It seems that Barmby and Pearson/Walsh share this good taste in players. So many managers make repeated crap signing but NP's were largely very good for both us and Leicester, and whilst NB hasn't had any money yet, the names we've heard about him going for have been impressive and the two players he did get have been great.
Indeed. i think next seasons championship is gonna be better than this seasons overall as well. Alot of named teams back into it. One heads up already.....BARNSLEY imo will be the team to finish rock bottom and maybe Peterboro will finish 23rd. So who goes down with them ?
