Do you not think that technique, passing, possitioning and vision are part of defending. Yes Attacking is part of the game but when you're playing against - possibly - the greatest ever team at ball retention how are you meant to attack.

Trust me, im an arsenal fan and dont like admitting when Chelsea do well but Credit where credit is due. i feel they have nothing to be embarresed about.

Fair enough, 'embarrassed' was a strong word.

Perhaps you could attack by not having 10 men camped in your own half, try moving up the pitch, closing down quicker and more aggresively.

A lot of teams are afraid to attack Barca and therefore sit deep in their own half which just invites pressure.

Would you be happy playing like Chelsea did, against every team? Are you happy with that style?

I'm a firm believer that you should play to your own strengths and to the opponents weaknesses. If Chelsea's strength are to be defensive, park the bus type of team then I am mistaken.

No i wouldn't be happy if Arsenal did it every game, but Chelsea do do it every game. I'd be ****ing exstatic if we could defend like they did. I feel Chelsea did play to their strengths. They can defend very well and can't attack as well against Barca.

    Fair enough.

As I said, I understand why teams do it.

But we should we be glorifying such a tactic/style? I believe it is the root of what is wrong with English football. Trying to play safe, not concede, and playing for a draw or not to lose. Whereas the Spanish mentality and Brazillian mentality (in the past) was to go out and score more goals and win the game.

I'm not saying too much about the way Chelsea played. Because when I went to Eastlands I never really got to see much of the game as the whole game was played in the opposite end. First half we scored then the whole second half we just defended. Although that was an away leg and the home tie was completely different.

I said earlier in the thread I hate watching football played this way and I include our second half performance in that game.

Ha, luckily the ticket was given to me and the result of the match and atmosphere was worth it. Not often I get to go to home games let alone away semi finals.

No way mate, chelsea were plain old very very lucky, they played no part in that game last night.

Both game swere all about Messi underperforming and as most of what Barca created went to him that was a problem for htem.

Chelsea's tactics and play saw them ripped open time and time again only for Barca to waste chances galore. 10 men packed 10 yards of pitch, thats not tactics, if you think it is then don't manage.

United twice put in better performances in the two finals but and stemmed them more but by god United didn't have hte pure luck that that load of ****e had last night and at the bridge.

It is not good for football in general whena team like that makes it to the final, great for chelsea fans though, totally glad Terry aint playing

haha, I said a month ago no spaish teams in the final. We'll see

Barca looked fkn shattered at the end. Their season only ended this week. Chelsea's season never got going. I am just amazed at hte credit chelsea are getting, nothing they did worked, Barca just missed chance after chance, reminds me of another team in that respect:)
This CL season has 2005 al over it.
