From the Tickets section of the OS. Apparently 800 tix for Wycombe were sold on Monday alone. They are expecting a crowd of over 20k.Pools game , only 300 tickets were left on Tuesday evening. So, if our average gate is 17,000 now, then if we get 21 and 27k respectively, this should increase our aveareg to circa 17,600 for the season !
They're probably mostly restricted views as well I'm guessing. That's actually something I'm going to miss about League One strangely...looking around and thinking "yes, the stadium is half-empty, but at least all those here are 'loyal fans'."
why can't we win the title in peace and quiet with just the normal 15,000 sitting there drinking their Bovril. I hope they don't run out of chicken curry pies
PLUS!!!!! When my jackpot tickets don't come up and it's a small crowd at least I only miss out on £500..... when it's a full house I miss out on £1,000 which really pisses me off
Might do these two on the train from Dartford - Ha-Ha Road's closed and the traffic's going to be hideous. Wonderful to see The Valley near capacity again.
Not going to complain about the club getting more money. I know I'm a fan, so whoever sits around me doesn't have any relevance IMO. Then again, I am upper west!
Exactly, my thoughts Chrissy, as long as he's wearing red and cheering on Charlton, and giving the club more money - i dont give a toss whether he comes for 1 game or for 21 (i'd prefer it for 21 of course, but some people have circumstances - smacks of season ticket snobbery to me ! I dont get the negativity about someone providing the club with more money !! Dont get it at all. Thats why i didnt understand the negativity re the possible move to new stadium at O2.
I dunno, i know ive said it before, but i'm really gobsmacked by people who are against progress ! Stay in your season ticket seat alongside the other 14999 watching Peterborough and Barnsley, or sit in a brand new riverside stadium alongside 39999 others watching ManU, Chelsea and Liverpool. I know what i want !
Nobody wants to die but I will join the line up. We have a new stadium which when the East stand is finished (second Tier) and the Jimmy Seed is replaced is planned to hold more than 40,000 people so why go to a smaller purpose built plastic ground by the O2! The primeminister isn't going to give up Downing street just because Taylor Wimpy have built a new 5 bedroomed house on the South Bank, but inside Downing Street has been upgraded with the required mod cons. As a club we could probably draw a regular 40k in the premiership and the plans were in place to do that they just need reviving.
I don't want a new stadium, we've got permission to grow it when we need to. But to ever mix it with the big boys then we need more fans, often labelled as ''plastics''. Every single big club in the world has them, and if they want to appear more so when we are achieving success then so be it. As long as I know I'm a fan then I'm comfortable with the Valley selling out with 10 thousand plastics there.
If we were in the valley of old with a crumbling east terrace which couldn't be used for safety reasons I don't think many people would have had a problem with moving to Blackwall Lane, but the investment the club has put into the Valley in recent years and the much vaunted plans to expand as well as the long years of homeless exile mean that a move from the Valley wouldbe hard for many of us to take. By the way Luddism is often defined as people fighting against the replacement of highly skilled artisans and craftsmen by machines. Therefore non Luddism would be a little like Charlton fans deciding to support the wall. As someone who has brought skilled craftsmen back to the Valley perhaps we should rechristen CP - King Ludd.
Trouble is we aint got planning permission for a 40,000 capacity stadium, and the local authority wont let us re-develop the south stand due to the houses immediately behind it. I think even the planning permission for the east has now expired.
Stu, we won't get 27k for the Hartlepool game as we have a seg line in the south stand. Probably most we could get would be around 26,500 or 26.600 and that's assuming Hartlepool sell all their tickets . Should still be a fantastic crowd though.
