Yes, it is all about sticking one in the onion bag !

Andy Grey once said that he thought the team which scored the most goals would win, amazing pundetry and yes the fundemental part of football.

What is your favourite type of goal?

They range from the rugged goal mouth scramble, desasterous own goal, sleasy headers to sublime free kicks, mazey runs and well worked moves.

Personally, if I had to choose one type it would be free kicks. This is because of the redemption of getting a free kick as the ref gives the foul, the suspense and build up to it being taken and then the perfectly executed set piece. Let me give you some fine examples:

My favourite type of goal changes depending on what the current Watford team is most likely to do. ;)

Nick Wright's looping overhead kick is probably one of my all time favourite Watford goals.

Any goal for us is fine by me. One of my favourite goals was Hendo's penalty at Cardiff, mainly because of what it meant - the game was safe and we were in the Prem.

I would say my fav type of goal is the 25yrd+ drive. There is the anticipation of where is it going... will the keeper get there... and then when it hits the net the place erupts!!

    A bit like this

Like others, any goal in 'the colours' counts - but I am particularly partial to perfectly executed diving headers by defenders who shouldn't even be attempting perfectly executed diving headers in the first place.

Unfortunately, they're as rare as hen's teeth. <laugh>

My Top 5 fave all time (non Watford) goals are:

    1) Marco Van Basten (Holland v USSR)
    2) Maxi Rodriguez (Argentina v Mexico)
    3) Hugo Almeida (Inter vs Porto)
    4) Dennis Bergkamp (Holland vs Argentina)
    5) Zinedine Zidane (Real Madrid v Leverkusen)

Best Watford goal??? Maybe Marlon King v West Ham

Chris Eagles' Beckhamesque goal at the Withdean is one of my favourites.

Allan Smart smashing in the second at the Watford End, Wembley 1999.

Somebody threw a pork pie up the air at that moment, which hit me on the way down. Not that I cared.

Shame I can't find a video of it, but Steve Sherwood's goal at Coventry must be up there. He played less games for us than LD has, so he has a better strike ratio!

One of my favourite Watford goals is Marlon King's first goal vs Palace in the semi's. Great strength, and then an unstoppable shot on the turn from 20 yards, right in the place where the Palace keeper couldn't reach it and just inside the post. Couldn't silence a better set of fans!

I would say the time to skip ahead to but quite frankly the whole video is worth watching.

Favourite non-Watford goals, well probably Ronaldinho's vs Chelsea in the Champions League a while back. Zero back-lift, left the best goalkeeper in the world by a mile at the time (Cech) with no chance at all from what quite a tame shot.
