Who would you put as best and who would you put as worst? 1st being the best, 10th being worst.

    1. Sir Bobby
    2. Hughton
    3. Roeder
    4. Keegan
    5. Allardyce
    6. Pardew
    7. Shearer
    8. Souness
    9. Gullit
    10. Kinnear

I have put Pardew 6th as he is unproven, not confident he will take us anywhere but confident enough that he won't be worse than the ones below.

    Yours?

Switch Pardew for Allardyce and I agree entirely!

Pardew's reign has already included the greatest ever Premier League come-back!

Also, happy to see Roeder up there, I don't think he's given enough credit for what he achieved with such a crippling injury list!

[EDIT] move Souness as well, he had us in Europe and into the semi's of the FA Cup! Shearer was ****e, those players were lazy and uninspired but he did nout with them, I don't ever see him making it big in management to be honest!

Roeder when he took over from Souness worked wonders, his win rate must have been up there with the best! Not to mention he was the boss for our famous 4-1 win away at that lot. Second season, injuries hit us hard, Michael Owen out for too long again, I didn't like how we went out of Europe but hey ho.

I don't think anyone can argue about Kinnear at the bottom? First loss at Sunderland in 28 years. He was more deluded than some fans, just an overall prick, it might be harsh to say, but him getting ill was the best thing that could have happened to us...we would have gone down 4 weeks before the end!

6-9 could be in any order, but Shearer was in charge when we went down.

Gullit because his own pig-headedness led to a home defeat to the scum, Allardyce was right down there because for almost 12 months all we heard were excuses as to why we weren't as good as we should've been and how brilliant our defence was (as if drawing or losing 1-0 was ok) and all the hoofball. Agree with the top few though. All the respect in the world for that epic comeback at the back end of an awful season.

Some sad Newcastle fans get offended by this, but what did Shearer do? He got the fans back on side, and up for the fight, but the players didn't react, his subs were stupid and even his starting 11 for games at places like Stoke were just daft! 8 games isn't a lot no, but I wasn't impressed.

But if it wasn't for dodgy refereeing against Fulham or that freak own goal, he would have kept us up.

True, but had Nolan not fouled Pogatetz for our quick equaliser against Boro then it would have been given, it was Nolan's fould going unpunished meant it was punished in the next game, no matter how wrong it was.

We deserved to go down though.

It was an awful period but I don't hold Shearer responsible, no one could've averted that disaster.

Not for me! Staff training in the morning followed by gym(upper body) is on the cards, followed by giving blood tomorrow afternoon, I should go to bed, but its not going to happen!

1 win in 8 games, yes we were bottom 3 when he took over but Hull and Sunderland played so badly he should have kept us up.

Yeah we were complete dogshite and deserved to go down. Looking back i remember Bassongs dodgy defending against Spurs and Fulham, Martins missing chances at Villa, Viduka's disallowed goal against Fulham. Having 5 people in charge over the season. We should have been bottom! But in a way we were unlucky to go down. I don't hold Shearer responsible, God couldn't have kept us up.

Roeder above Hughton? Hmm, would be interesting to hear your reasons? I thought the top 2 were pretty much nailed on.

If people are judging Shearer harshly then remember who was in charge for a fair few games that season, Hughton, the man who also done quite poorly this season. Yet he sits second in most lists.
