Your off your bleeding rocker if you think Chelsea or Man City would approach Lambert! He's a good manager but lets not blow things out of perspective! Liverpool would be the club most likely to take him.
But according to DM, Liverpool is a sideways move!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just out of interest from the norwich fans, when the day does come who would you think is his best replacement?
eh? someone is saying what?!?! guru, replacement wise is not something i've particularly thought about but malky mackay would be a clear favourite - he has always said he wants to come back and manage city. brian mcdermott would have been a contender too. roy keane of course...
i wasnt suggesting they would - and i think he is a long, long way off liverpool and co wanting him to be honest...i also think that because of these clubs being worldwide brands pretty much, they would want someone who enjoyed the cameras, limelight and interview process...that certainly isnt lambert...i was just saying i didn't think any of those potential mooted moves were particularly attractive...
Can't see Martinez going. I think next season Wigan will kick the tag of relegation battlers and finish midtable.
Liverpool would be a big step up for lambo however they're hurting at the moment they're not the club the scousers think they are. They're learning that they can't draw players on history alone and need the draw of CL, but selling clubs are still trying to bleed them dry at every transfer, this may well not be their lowest ebb as they won't sack Kenny, there'd the riots. So they will want a big manager next someone who outwardly shows ambition not some unheard of Scott from the lower leagues. I'm not saying lambert isnt good enough for them just that they are the most status driven team in the country if not Europe and would never take him especially after the Hodgson debacle.
The question is what are Lerner's ambitions. You look at his franchises in the US and none of them win much they just chug along bringing in cash not doing spectacularly or doing disastrously. I don't think Lerner is particularly ambitious, he just wants Villa to keep in the Premiership around mid-table. I think this is one reason he chose McLeish, he will keep them an average side and no ambitious manager would go there; Lerners main problem is if the fans get bored and fail to continue going to games.
I think Wigan would definately be a step up for Lambert as they are an established Premier League team.
The team I think is the greatest threat are Everton. Big club, could well be looking for a new manager over the summer, would probably take a chance on lambert.
Exactly Dave however I do wonder wether lambert may model his self on Moyes a bit career wise. Building a reputation with a club taking them as far as the resources allow. Then moving on to further himself. While we're still building a young team and improving year on year then I think he will stay but there is a point of diminishing returns in this league and when we get to the pint that the next place above us in the league cost £10m we either need a serious investment or that's our ceiling and that when lambo should leave.
