Chavs v Barca - score?

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by Hoddle is a god, Apr 18, 2012.

  1. Ouch! Your incisive wit has cut me to the quick!

    Not.

Your tactics at the Nou Camp will be to park the bus and keep 11 players behind the ball in a desperate attempt to come away with a 0-0 result. You'll probably keep Drogba on the half-way line, just in case you do happen to get a hold of the ball, where upon you will hoof it up field in the hope that Drogba will somehow manage to run onto a lucky bounce and score a lucky goal "on the counter." You certainly will not dare to commit any significant number of players into Barca's half. When Barca are in your half (which they will be for 90% of the game), your tactics will be to rough them up to disrupt their play, and you will pick up 5 or 6 yellow cards, perhaps even a red, as your dirty tactics become ever more desperate.

There! Those are the tactics that RDM will employ to beat Barca. Guaranteed <ok>

Negative football at its absolute worst, and another black day for English football.

    Some bitter sir?

Nobody on the planet can outplay Barca, you have to play with 10 men behind the ball.

  4. Do you remember when, in the 80s, the Americans tried to promote US Football over here? Channel 4 used to show all the "World Series" games, and a UK American Football League was founded.

I was at University at the time, and a couple of my acquaintances were really into it. They tried to educate me in the game, but I could never get past the boredom of it all, and its rules remain a mystery to me, to this very day.

By the beginning of the 90s, UK American Football died its natural death, when British kids suddenly remembered that we have our game of "running whilst holding the ball." It's called rugby, and it's played without the protection of wearing a sofa and a crash hat.

There's the Toronto Raptors - although the Vancouver Grizzlies moved to Memphis - and Toronto Blue Jays in baseball. Or, to put it bluntly, non-American teams in every sport:
    NFL: 0
    NBA: 1
    MLB: 1
    MLS: 3
    NHL: 7

  6. No, YOU have to play with 10 men behind the ball.

Spurs would go out and attack and actually play football.

then WTF are you on about? You've more or less said "I'd like to see my team get hammered than not get hammered"

  10. No. I'd rather see my team play football and take the game to the opposition, even if that means the risk of getting hammered. There's a difference.

You're going to get hammered anyway, and it will be done with the team that you supposedly love cowering at the feet of their opponents.

Oh dear, that tool HIAG has once again had a foot in mouth moment. Well we didn't get battered and you look a fool again. But then again it wasn't long ago you were talking Spurs up for a double. <doh>

He is obsessed to the point the club may have to take out a restraining order!!

Well we put 5 past you at the weekend so our ability to play football is not in question. We cut our cloth accordingly hence why we have won titles and been in multiple C/L semis and a final over the last few years compared to your record....

If you play Barca at their game you will lose. Even United were playing long ball football in the final last year cos they knew they couldn't compete in the middle of the park.

However football is more than just possession and pass completion thank god.

    Fair point!!

I think HIAG was expecting a battering score line wise though...or was at least hoping for as much!!

That was our gameplan though, stay compact and let them have possession. Granted we were lucky they didn't finish a couple but that's not our problem.

Barca's style of football is too dependent upon possession to be thrilling, most of the time.
Watching a bunch of supremely gifted superstars playing keep ball can get very dull, very quickly, for me.
Their diving and play acting sickens me, too.

I'd like Chelsea to get put out by a goal that's nowhere near the net, just so that we can hear their rampant conspiracy theories, again.
Funny how there aren't any when a host of decisions go their way...

You were battered, what are you on about. Barca were all over you like a rash. dodgy finishing and bad luck prevented the predicted scoreline (a Barca win). A good result is all you got, didn't Greece win a tournament in similar fashion! <whistle>...if thats your bag little chavlets, then fair enough. The goal was very good, sweet move, but I'd expect more for my money thats all. <ok>

Another naive comment. Does nobody understand that our intention was to let them have the ball? Everyone seems to forget Drogba had two chances to score at the start of the game too.

We will more than likely lose next week, but we won last night. Get over it.
