Min of a draw needed against Chelsea

Discussion in 'Arsenal' started by Jayram_Football, Apr 18, 2012.

  1. If we get a point we will likely still be ahead of either Spurs and/or Newcastle on goal difference with 3 to play.

The away game against Stoke looks like its going to be our biggest game of the season by far and could decide whether we make the CL or not. Whilst difficult at their place - it would be a sweet game to win.

The next two games really are crucial. Need to start strongly against Chelsea on Saturday. They will be a bit tired after their performance tonight, that's for sure. Also it's a difficult thing to play in the EPL which seems quite mundane after such a magical performance against Barcelona. Perhaps they will not be as keyed up as we will be.

  3. Without Arteta, I personally cannot see us winning against Chelsea. I think a draw is possible, but the game will be very very tough.

Agreed a draw is not a bad result now.. I just can't see us winning without Arteta. It's a horrible thing to happen at this crucial stage of the season. In fact, the injury hurt us more than the loss to Wigan IMO. We have recovered before, I just don't see us being the same side without him.

I still think we can beat them without Arteta
They will be jaded and we will be pissed from our blip

  6. I don't buy all the jaded stuff as you know - I think the confidence from beating Barca is more important than the fact the team will only have had 2 and half days rest. Think about that for a minute - two and half days rest from 90 minutes of football for a top athlete. Two and a half days to sleep and get massages in prep for another 90 minutes.

Some injuries occur from over playing - like stress fractures - but I can't accept the fatigue argument.

Well they ahve had less recovey time than we have...That WILL account for something
Theyw on't be exhausted, but they won't be as fresh as we should be

To be honest, we were well rested before the defeats to QPR and Wigan. At this stage in the season, with the end in sight, I don't think it is a major factor.

True, but i think it will make a very minimal impact, but maybe impact enough for a defender to make a silly error.
However, I still think that just as we rebounded after our loss to QPR we will do the same.

Totally agree. Sometimes adrenaline can take you over the white line.

Isn't your skipper due an injury?

About now would probably mess your season up good and proper. Best hope Terry isn't up to his old tricks eh!

    Have a nice weekend.

No Drogba so i expect Arsenal to play their usual way and attack. As long as we close down and don't leave big holes behind for a Mata/Sturridge/Torres counter, then it's all good. On second thoughts, look out for a set pieces too....

It will be safe for Vermealan to play now they know Drogba's not playing. Did they ever find all of his torn arsehole?
