Completely agree. Terry has the same problems with reputation but he's the most committed player I've ever seen, the only player who can compare to Ashbee in that respect!
Chelsea played well tonight but were let off the hook by 3 or 4 astonishing misses from Barca. It was almost like they did it on purpose to make it interesting. 1-5 wouldn't have been unfair, and they will send them packing at the Nou Camp. Only half time innit.
Fair do's - I thought Chelsea were excellent tonight albeit Barca were a little wasteful. Never the biggest fan of John Terry but you got to hand it to the guy - he would die for the Chelsea cause. If we had someone like that in our side we would have made the playoffs at least no problem.
As the swear filter can be disabled by people who don't mind seeing the swearing why would you want to bypass it like that?
I don't quite understand how Alex Ferguson got away with it so lightly at the time. I know he's got the history so obviously fans aren't going to have too much of a go. But the press, Man U got knocked out because they played weakened teams in the early games in the group stage, and at the time were falling behind City thanks to their ridiculously good start to the season and the press barely said anything about him making bad selections for the CL. (there was the focus on De Gea, but that was cross competition)
I don't think the English teams have gotten **** because a few have dropped out of Euro competitions a bit earlier than normal. We can't win all the time! By that logic the entire continent was **** when Greece won Euro whatever it was.
Of course. What you really want in a striker is a lot of huff and puff but no end product. Scoring is over-rated (just ask party )
That's true, which is a shame, because if that wasn't what you wanted in a striker you could play him there and it would solve the problem of him and Gerrard not being able to play in the centre together.
I thought Mikel was their best player tonight, totally unnoticed by most but he stopped them getting destroyed as the holding midfield, Matteo has done well to get this lad playing to the best of his ability as he was in shadow of the great Chelsea blockers of the past like Makalele and Essien
Tweet last night from Yakubu Yakubu Aiyegbeni ‏ @Yakubu_24 Can you spot Didier Drogba? An English team beat the best team in the world, I enjoyed watching it, though they will still get tonked in the return leg.
You should be saying a long row of little men, one of which is lying down(maybe the paste from Twitter didn't work, but it looks fine on mine).
You must have missed Deano's tweet which went along the lines of "If he dives again, I'm going to put my foot through the telly", closely followed by replies of "New TV for Deano!" when he went down again
it's only 5 but the point is still valid. Spanish football is so imbalanced the likes of Valencia, Atletico Madrid and Bilbao see the Europa cup as their best (or only) chance of winning a trophy. You would think that some of the other English teams would take the same approach.
not that I am trying to compare City with Barcelona but the game reminded me of some of our efforts this year. lots of domination, good build up and totally failing to put the match to bed.
Ah that would explain it. All I see is a load of squares and other symbols. Twitter is probably blocked by work. Sorry
Erm.....well Chelsea did win. Lol. Good to see even the worlds best missing so many simple chances. Remind you of anyone ? Barcelona are nowhere near the best team ever, but most certainly in the last 10-15 years.!!!!
