Providing we go up, of course:

    - Being on MOTD

    - More TV matches (can't decide whether that is good or not given our record) <whistle>

    - Teams seeing that we aren't just a one man team

    - More of Nigel Adkins' legendary interviews, where pundits refer to him as the most positive man in the league etc... ;)

    - A bigger support! Plastic fans emerging from the cracks to fill St Mary's once again!

    - Most Importantly: I think that we will go up having spent very little and will prove that you can hold your own in a higher division without gambling stupid money on half-hearted players! <ok>

Derby did it and failed. QPR did it, and are currently failing...

Swansea, Norwich and Reading too previously, have all shown that it can be done <ok>

Times look bright, the future is red and white!

    COYR!

Agree with this. Also, for anyone with Sky, we will get Football First Match Choice !!!! Some extended highlights, longer than those on MOTD most of the time.

Late thought: Should add, I am going to be very interested as to what the club's transfer policy is like this summer, I can see a big transfer maybe. Not to say I don't want an unexpected transfer to surprise us, but, lets not go down the QPR route. Would not surprise me if we broke the club record soon though of £4m for Rory Delap.

    IF...!

Mixed feelings for me. On the one hand, I can't remember being so happy about the club and it almost doesn't matter that we're currently one division from the top, but it would be a big disappointment to fail, at the last hurdle, so of course I'd rather be in the top tier.

I won't be looking forward too much to MOTD, because for the hype we won't get any more exposure than we do now on the FL show, because we'll be the last match or next to last, unless we play the Mancs or the odd club from London, and no, I don't mean Fulham.

I think I will enjoy seeing Rickie finding his feet in the PL as the odd team inevitably underestimate how good he is. I won't enjoy some of them start to gang up on him as a means of stopping Saints, but that should mean others can shine. I hope people will realise that he'll still be putting in a real shift if he doesn't score at the rate he currently does.

As for playing the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, etc..., I couldn't give two hoots. We might as well play a league of Grimsby Towns [with no disrespect to that particular club] as play any of the clubs that currently inhabit the PL. I'll undoubtedly take an interest in how we fair against Reading, but the rest I couldn't care less about. It's how high we are up the table that I'll be looking forward to.

EDIT: Having scanned the previous post, I ought to mention that I too will be interested to see what Nicola does, in terms of spending money for the first season or two in the PL. Hopefully, we won't sign the likes of a Rory Delap or re-sign the real thing.

Players getting their chance in the top flight & the club being rewarded for the efforts its made both on & off the pitch.
After that, can't say I'm overly looking forward to being on the receiving end of bad decisions at Old Trafford or hearing Mark Lawrenceson predict us to go down every week on MOTD, but I can live with it.

I think Cortese and NA will have already discussed targets and they will set out quietly behind the scenes to pull something together.

I would say we will make no more than 4 signings in the summer.

    A CB
    A RB
    A RM
    A ST

    That will do for now.

Maybe a foreign loan signing? Who knows...

I think we will be sensible considering it is still the Liebherr's money... <ok>

Will we get more TV matches? I can't believe we'll get more than we got this season. More high profile and pubs will show them, but top of the Championship surely get more games than bottom quarter of the Premiership (not saying we'll be one of those clubs). A question rather than statement.

Totally agree that we can hold our own in the prem without the need to go mad in the transfer market. As Norwich and Swansea have shown this season, to compete and succeed in the prem there much more important factors than splashing the cash. Factors such as team spirit, belief and work ethic are vital.
OPR went up and thought they had to sign 11 "premiership quality" players to able to do well and look how that turned out for them. Most of the players are on ridiculous wages and well over rated. The great thing about our squad is that a lot of our players started the journey in league 1 and got us to where we are now so they deserve the chance to play in the prem.

You think? Bart is out of contract this Summer so you suggest we go with just Kelv and possibly Forecast?

For what it's worth, I would say: a keeper, a right-back, a centre-back (or 2 - with one being a youngster, depends how NA sees Martin), a wide player for the right-hand side, maybe 1 and a younger player for the bench, possibly a centre-mid if Hammond/Chaplow are not up to it (I think JC and MS will but unsure on these two, although I like Hammond) and a Striker.

I think there are about 5 positions to target. I think Norwich brought about 7 or so in? 4 or 5 first teamers then a few younger players from the FL or on loan.

I will add, I don't think we should go mad, but I do believe there is considerable strengthening required. Reading have a Championship squad with some PL potential players. We have a Championship team with some PL potential players, but our squad/cover is made up of L1 players.

The thing that I am most looking forward to: getting to keep our young talent for longer, and getting the chance to attract even more young talent. If we can remain in the Prem, we'll have the opportunity to see a generation of kids come up through the ranks and make their names as Saints, rather than having them "plucked from obscurity" by other teams even though they'd made waves with us, albeit at lower levels.

    Going to Wigan! Yes, Wigan.

I hope they stay up. My wife is from Wigan and a fan. My father in law is a Wigan season ticket holder. I lived there for five years. They were promoted 7 years ago, replacing us in the Premier League; something I've been reminded about for each of the seasons since.

Now I am not counting chickens yet, but my first phone call when it's confirmed will involve this song,

    "We're coming for you
    We're coming for you,
    You greedy Pie-eaters
    We're coming for you"

    Please stay up Wigan.

Ps I maybe hoping one of you lot is a lawyer!

After last nights result, I'm looking forwards to Adam Lallana to score at Stamford Bridge and prove, for once and for all, that he does indeed make Messi look ****e.

ha ha. Last night I was reprimanded by Mrs FLT, as when Messi scuffed that one shot a mile wide, I shouted "you're just a **** Adam lallana, a **** Adam Lallana" at the telly.

I don't remember us ever having quite so many live games as we've had this year SNG. I believe you are correct!
