The Chavs have a one goal lead to take to barca.. IMO its not enough.

The fact that the Barca pitch is bigger means that Chelsea will tire quicker due to them not having that ball.

Plus Barca and Messi will not play that bad again as usally they would have buried their chances (3) and would it woud be game over.

In short Chelsea will be beaten by at least two goals.

    Bye Chavs.

I think Barca are still favourites. I find it quite annoying how all the journalists are creaming themselves over a 'fantastic' performance by Chelsea.

If defending for 90% of the game, with 10 men behind the ball is a fantastic performance, then it shows you how backwards the English mentality is and is probably why the National team is suffering.

They defended very well, no doubt, but to say it was a great performance is over the top.

    Not you, DR DIRK.

It's amazing how football fans can be so fickle as i bet if liverpool would of beat barcelona you would be saying how great you were.

    Fair enough.

Not really mate, I hate it when we (or any team) play deep and defensive - that's just my take on football in general.

Fair play, you won and you defended extremely well. But to say your entire performance was brilliant and that you deserved the win is OTT, considering the opposition had close to 80% and better chances.

I'm not having a go at the result, but just the reaction to the performance.

I have to agree with with Purley. As Redmen we have seen our side suffer the same fate as Barcelona on our own pitch. Our quality of play has deserved a win but failures in our game, bad luck and a dogged compliance to a defensive strategy by our opponents has ensured otherwise. Hence too many sides have left Anfield feeling well satisfied with their performance. We haven't liked it but we have to give their performance some repspect no matter how grudging.

That's what Chelsea did last night. So well done. My only comment on that would be the behaviour of Drogba - but that is a separate issue.

I have no idea if a one goal advantage will be sufficient or if the same game plan will work.

LFC-009 has it right saying the media "creaming" themselves over Chelsea's "performance" If Chav fan's think hanging on for dear life, and surviving through luck, poor Barca finishing and the pantomine dame upfront is a "great" performance then i obviously have a different veiw point on what is a "great" performance.

Barca to win by at least 2 clear goals next week.

But on play and chances barca should have scored.

Chelsea fans will rightly be pleased with the result, but as a relative neutral I found the game mind-numbingly dull. I just hate football played that way, I hated it when we did it against City.
Football started as entertainment, whether to play or to watch- the modern, win- at- al-l costs attitude just doesn't do it for me.
I was so bored I almost watched a Colin Firth film, but there are limits.
Will one goal be enough? Who knows, but I'm not sure I want to watch another 90 minutes like that to find out.
As for Drogba, well- back to the bad old days there.

    Purely,

I'm not saying that LFC have never done it before and that we play the beautiful game all the time.

We have been guilty of being too defensive at times and not taking the game to the opposition and I hate it. This is why I hate teams like Stoke and any team that Sam Allardyce manages.

People will argue that you have to make do with your resources but look at the likes of Wigan, Norwich and Swansea, and even Blackpool last season (although it didn't work out in the end). They go on and prove that you don't have to have millions to get a team to play good football.

That's just my take on football in general.

The following results would take Chelsea through to the final:0:0 1:1 2:1 3:2 4:3.Because Barcelona failed to score away goal makes it a little complicated Chelsea have a chance.<ok>

I'm glad Chelsea beat barca, I hope the beat them in the second leg too, I hate Barca, they are too arrogant... I'd love for them to lose to Anti-Football, that makes it all the better!!!

As for Messi, Last night proved that he'd never dominate a game if it were played in a rainy night in Stoke... Stick to Spain kid, avoid a real challange

    How does 3:1 & 4:2 work?

Away goals only enter into the equation IF the aggregate score ends in a draw yes?

They don't always count double, unless there's been a rule change I don't know about
