wow... I would be really surprised if anyone with the slightest authority on football would have placed Ramsey even in the top 8-9 performers of our team this season. Just off the top of my head players who've had a more positive impact when they've played this season: Sczczczczezny Koscielny Mert. Verm. Sagna Song Arteta Rosicky Walcott Oxo Gervinho (he was our best pre-christmas for a patch when everyone else sucked) RVP So... about everyone but our LB-s. I always rated Ramsey pre-injury
Wasn't PISKIE joking in that thread? I thought he was being ironic because of his known support for Ramsey this season but hey, what do I know.
PISKIE got done, AGAIN .. well and truly. Both myself and Jayram have backed him into corners where he refuses to admit he is wrong even when he is, but this is genius. Another nail in the coffin for "I know more than George Graham" PISKIE Oh dear ..... I think everyone knew who was talking bollox long before the proof was found.
How about a truce, Hothead? You feel you have the moral high ground. How about let the man lick his wounds and lay off for a bit - you know about 3 hours?
I can't ... I'm too busy laughing Couldn't have happened to a nicer fellow If he thinks Rambo has been our best player is it any wonder he argues the way he does ? How many times has he called into question people's opinions ? He can't say a damned thing to anyone for at least ... let me see ... forever !!!!
Not taking sides but, you're all getting ahead of yourselves. PISKIE said this later in the thread: The 'in all honesty' bit suggests he was just winding people up about nominating Ramsey.
I would believe you if the game he "played well in the night before" was a bad game - but it was our 0-3 win at Wolves where he played the entire match, so PISKIE isn't joking.
Yeah right, nice excuse, you were just 'joking' sureeeeeeeeeeeee. As hothead said, your comment about Ramsey playing the night before, against Wolves, kind off shows the tone was no joke at all but you were DEADDDDDDDDDDDDDDD SERIOUS. Next you'll be telling us Cygan was one of our greatest ever defenders!
I made my case and I am sticking to it. If you hadn't said he played well the night before in a game Arsenal comfortably won the irony might be easy to see, as it stands its too hard to tell therefore we can only assume you meant it. Irony is usually stands out.
It was ironic, because even after that Wolves game, we had people calling him **** and we all talked about the merits of Ramsey after the Wolves games on the match thread. We even had a thread about it, where people claimed that Ramsey was again not very good in the game against Wolves. http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/136867-Aaron-Ramsey That thread was made on the same day as the thread about our player of the season (apart from RVP). If it was not ironic, then why was his following comment on that thread talking about Chensey in fact being our best player after RVP? A few of you missed the irony, because of your haste to 'defeat' Piskie as one of the above posters put it. His comment was so clearly aimed at the people that are not fans of Ramsey. Very much tongue and cheek.
Nope I am not having it, irony should be obvious. If in fact Ramsey had a good game and PISKIE states in his "ironic" comment "after the good game he had last night" I fail to see the irony - it completely defeats the object of being ironic PISKIE's irony = epic failure.
You'd think the sentence 'In all honesty, I'd give it to Szczesny......' would be pretty self explanatory to most ? Then again, as Jack mentions, some people are so desperate to pin a 'defeat' on me, that they'll show themselves up in the process of trying to so. . . which is also quite Ironic
Maybe I should explain it to YOU. Lets take an example of sarcasm. A man is rubbish at cooking, he cooks a dish for some of his mates, one of which, for a laugh, decides to be sarcastic and says "horrible food chum". Thats NOT being sarcastic. The proper use of sarcasm would be "great food chum" - note the sarcasm. Sarcasm is a more severe form of irony but the premise remains the same, for something to be ironic it must contain some kind of "opposite" meaning or a contradiction. To state Ramsey had a good game - when he did, to preceed an ironic comment therefore DOESN'T WORK.
It's all about the comment that follows HotHead - 'In all honesty.....I would give it to Szczesny' Which would show that the meaning of the preceding one is .......... I'll give you a clue, it begins with the letter 'I'
