Have you read some of the tweets and comments? It's almost like 'oh my God, how can this astonishing incarnation of football purity possibly be losing?" I dont get this idea of lauding them as the best team ever, they havent ever retained the ruddy trophy. Nobody has since 1989.

BCC, people are ****ing over Chelsea winning because this season so many people have been saying that England have fallen behind the other top countries and to be honest it's bollocks. I can't help but love it when they are proven wrong by Chelsea.

But if Chelsea do win does that change? Arent there something like 6 (total guess) Spanish teams left in the two European competitions compared to England's 1? And dont give me that 'our teams dont take the Europa League seriously schite, cos both Utd and City - the 2 best in England - gave their absolute all.

And anyway that's not really my point - my point is Barca are not that great. Surely Real, as they look set to break all top flight goalscoring records IN HISTORY this season (why isnt that astonishing feat being lauded more btw?), would be the true barrometer. They are top of their domestic league afterall.

good effort by chelsea, but in all honesty they hung on by there finger nails and are going to get destroyed next week, even messi was enjoying one step beyond on the way off the pitch, not too fussed by the result <laugh>

It was a great effort by chelsea.

Some of those Barca misses like the Fabregas one and the Busguets howler, really were comical.

Still think they'll get turned over at the Nou Camp. Don't think they're as resolute as they were back when they last played them and Barca have got better.

Might have a cheeky bet on Bayern to win it on their own ground.

Said it all season and I havent changed my mind. It's the classic case of everyone looking at 2 teams, believing the hype and forgetting about the one quietly sneaking up on the outside. Wish Id had a bet but I cant imagine they were huge odds to be honest.

Barca seemed to be shooting like us at times tonight ;) In fairness though they can afford to, good effort by Chelsea tonight but Barca will be too strong for them at the Nou Camp, especially if they defend for the majority of the game like tonight. I'd agree with Golaccio on Bayern winning it though.

In the last few years we must have had more teams in the last 4 than any other country. We always have at least one team in the semis and we've had 2 recently as well. People have suddenly jumped on the bandwagon saying we're **** now just because United and City got knocked out early on, but since it was only one time it obviously doesn't mean much. If they fail to get anywhere in Europe in the next couple of seasons too then it'd be a valid point.

As for your actual point, that's how the tournament works isn't it? If they're good enough to beat Barca they get to face Real (assuming they're good enough to beat Bayern) Whoever wins it will get the plaudits. I know what you mean about Real's achievements this season being a bit overlooked, but I guess it's because Barca have done it for so many years in a row whereas Real only started being good again in the last couple of years under Mourinho.

Majority of the possession. Playing beautiful football. Can't score. As a Hull City fan, I feel Barcas pain.

Lampard is still one of the best midfielders around. I think it's a shame that he never gets any credit any more just because of this reputation of him having so much 'player power' and from where I'm sat I can't see a single shred of evidence to suggest it's true.

Well yeah, because they'll have beaten 2 of the best sides in the world to actually win it! Not that I expect them to win it mind.

Eh? They have never in their history retained Europe's top competion and had never even won it until 1992!

I mean they've been so brilliant for so many years in a row. If we're only talking about European Cup wins when did Real last win it? 2001ish?

Their achievements over the past few years are what earns them the praise. The fact that not only have they won it twice in the last few years but they've also been very close almost every other time for the past 5 years.

I thought they might win at least one of the games but as usual didn't take my own advice at the bookies. Going on tonight I can't see Barca not scoring at home.

i always used to think he was overrated, just a good goalscorer but not much cop at anything else, changed my mind 1st time i saw him play at the kc, his touch and movement was light years ahead of our midfield and he ran us ragged, and ever since ive watched him closely and he is class..
i dont care whatever people say about John Terry either, thats the guy i want leading my country on the football field, and if ferdinand dont like it he can fook off, hasnt he got a broken rib still??
