So The Evil Post top Sports story of the day.

It amazes me that even now after all the similar issues around every ground in the ground there are still foolish fans who think they are funny to jump up and down celebrating an away goal in the home end. Is the violence justified, NO and I have been in a position two years ago when an away fan was sat in front of me who started screaming in your face to the city fans around him when his team scored. He was verbally abused by the fans in our area, just short of being attacked and the stewards just stood there watching instead of removing him. Dont get me wrong I felt like hitting him to shut him up but one punch could mean a ban for life watching football so not worth it.

I dont know what powers the stewards have but they need to do more to stop issues like this happening again. I guess the other issue is some of the stewards at the ground couldnt fight their way out of a paper bag, especially one very young female steward who is 5 foot nothing. Though she is one of a few stewards that I have actually seen who watches the crowds and not have their backs to the crowd watching the football.

Entering a part of a ground reserved for home fans should be a criminal offence, that would stop twats like this dickhead doing it..

Those saying the violence isn't justified are quite right but like you say the stewards would have sat idly by and watched this prat take the piss, if the fans around him tolerate this we would have all sorts coming in our areas taking the piss.

Fans getting tickets and sitting quietly watching the game without inciting people is a completely different issue, this bloke was not an innocent fan who only turns up on birthdays with his elderly family as has been suggested in court. he knew exactly what he was doing and got what he deserved as far as I'm concerned.

(for anybody wondering, 2 guys in their mid twenties sat behind me in the dolman last night and were clearly West Ham fans, I knew because they didn't celebrate our goal and we caught eyes... they didn't celebrate theirs either so no problem.)

My friend from plymouth used to sit with us a couple of times when they were in the same league and we had a spare ticket and he would wear a coat over his green shirt and never cheered plymouth but rubbed it in my face after the game the one time they actually beat us.

I guess the problem is there is no respect that some people think that they can do what they like.

Agree in principle with the comments above. I once went to Tranmere away and sat in the home end with my old man, and our two friends (only because we couldn't get tickets for the City bit on the day) and couldn't help cheering a Mickey Bell opener, it was instinctive! However, had we got our heads kicked in then I guess you'd have to say, well ouch first, but fair enough we shouldn't have been there!

This bloke however, in my eyes is a cock, who knew exactly what he was doing and in my eyes got what he deserved. Not that I condone violence, but what did he expect?!

I've sat in a home end before - you just need to be sensible and sensitive to other people - i.e don't celebrate goals etc!

There's some ****ing idiots out there.

I'm Leeds, but this bloke got what he deserved. Wearing his Leeds shirt and celebrating in a home stand at Bristol City? Stupid thing to do. Apparently he's not even pressing charges, it's just BCFC and the Police who are keen to prosecute people, so he hardly seems to have been hypocritical or overly mopey about what happened.

Your club are naive though if they think a 2,500 allocation is enough to satisfy the demands of the Leeds support.

I would imagine a fixture against Leeds would come close to a full house and the Dolman stand holds 4982 supporters, so there was going to be away fans scattered with the city fans, if you find yourself in this situation... rule 1 as in fight club, you don't talk about it, so you don't celebrate Leeds' opening 17th-minute goal, rule 2, don't rub their noses in it, so don't jump around wearing a Leeds shirt as this results to being escorted outside with his Leeds shirt ripped to shreds and cuts and bruises. I don't encourage or support violence but this twat is a prize twat that got a twatting, even his Aunt said, 'our Darren has always been a stupid ****'.

I think it's a shame, that people feel the need to justify somebody getting a 'kicking' at a football match.

In the article, it clearly states that he is not a regular attendee of football matches, going on birthdays etc.

And I also remember the run up to this game, when it was common knowledge that Leeds fans had been buying up tickets in the home end - I believe that a few City 'Boys' thought that they would make a name for themselves by looking for a celebration when Leeds scored.

I was in the Liverpool section on Saturday for the Semi-Final - and contary to popular myth, the 2 sets of fans do not like each other very much. However when a few Evertonians celebrated the first goal in the Liverpool section, did it 'go off' - not at all, maybe a bit of name calling, but no violence.

Should the Leed lad of celebrated the goal - no.

Should he have got 'a slap' for his efforts - definately not.

Anybody suggesting otherwise, needs to get a life.

Last time I checked you only have to give 10% of your stadium to away supporters and we gave 13% so you got more than what we had to. Once we move to a bigger stadium you will get more tickets.

It's not about percentages, it's about real figures, and 2,000-2,500 won't satisfy our demand at a ground we hadn't visited for a while. Obviously the bloke himself is fully responsible for getting himself in the sticky situation he did, but your club could have avoided that and a couple of the other incidents on the day by giving us more tickets. Your home sections didn't sell out that game, did they?

"Should the Leed lad of celebrated the goal - no"

No leeds fan in our end = no celebration = no slap.. really ****ing simple.

"In the article, it clearly states that he is not a regular attendee of football matches, going on birthdays etc"

That is definitely not true and would not be an excuse anyway.

Are you suggesting that away fans should sit in home allocated seats as and when they like and take the piss by over celebrating an opposition goal, knowing FULL WELL the outcome of their actions. The many people I know who sit in that area all suggest he threw the first punch too and this is part of the reason he was not very keen to press charges, he was a total nause not some innocent away fan that accidentally wandered in to our end..

If you are, you should go get a life.. or join a bible group.

**** Leeds. they sold their allocation, who cares if they don't think they had enough!

Don't believe in this bollocks, shoud of given us more allocation! It's like most things in life it's first come first served. If you desperately wanted to go to see Leeds play at City you get your ticket early enough!

What are the club to do, think **** me it's the mighty Leeds lets chuck season ticket holders out of their seats so we can get more Leeds fans in. It's the joys of being at home not to fill the ground with away fans just because they have a bigger fan base. If that was true if we ever played Man U does that mean we all stay at home so they can have our seats?

No I don't condone violence but if you desperately wanted to see the game, use the home end but, just remember you will be surrounded by home fans with some people who don't mind a bit of violence who will get pissed of when their team goes a goal down without some bloke thinking its ok because he only goes to football for a birthday treat, to take his jacket off and cheering letting everyone around him he don't give a ****.

Stewart's should of got him out quicker to prevent his beating, but common sense should of been used.

What would Leeds fans do to me if the situation was reversed?

The logistics of the ground dictate how many tickets are given to away fans, not how many you think you should have because of who you are (THIS is the naive remark) and by the way, do you know how pompous that sounds..? We do not have an away "end" as such - that end is split in 2 and shared with home fans..

You got your 2,500 because that's how many we could accommodate and safely segregate in the AWAY SECTION and as you well know, SEGREGATION is what it is all about. Also, the last time I looked, we are not in business to satisfy Leeds fans.

We had the same issue at Newcastle, a ground that holds 52,000 but we were only allowed the 2,000 odd in the SEGREGATED top tier, despite the fact that they didn't sell anywhere near the capacity and we would have sold 4-5,000 tickets and maybe even more...

As for the incident, I see that the stewards are patting themselves on the back however I watched what was occurring from the Atyeo with some incredulity. I saw the idiot being hauled down the steps to the halfway walkway and there was only one steward with the balls to try and help the bloke.

What then followed was like something out of a carry on movie with our lot actually forming an orderly queue to take it in turns to hit the idiot whilst the one steward tried to protect him - meantime, both the Police and the rest of the stewards literally looked on from the bottom of the stand for probably 3 or 4 minutes without moving and with complete and total disinterest. I have never seen anything quite like it....

As for the bloke himself, you only have to take one look at his photo to see what a nauseous git he is...

Love it, well according to the fans that were alleged to have hit and punched him most are claiming that they were tying to pull him away from the fighting so were not punching him just trying to grab him to remove him to safety.

See what nice blokes they were.

From what I hear the Leeds fan was standing up goading the crowd when they scored. Flipping ridiculous thing to do! I have sat in home ends as an away fan and alway keep my head down. Never had a problem. Very hard not to celebrate if/when City score though!

The home fans, the away fans, the Police, your club, our club. Lots of people care. We sold an allocation that was too small.

Our ticket website crashed all the time last season; it was a total case of pot luck whether you got through to apply or not. Anyway, you should be thanking us for filling seats that would otherwise have gone spare. If we're not gonna sell out, I don't mind having a couple of thousand opposition fans in our end as long as they keep their gobs shut or are moved to a segregated area if they want to support their team. The Police should apply the same common sense; in fact, they have on one or two occasions.

Yes. That's what Crystal Palace (among others) do when we come to town, and it would be sensible for you to as well.

No, that's bizarre. All I'm saying is that when seats are going spare, it's madness not to sell them to away fans if no home fan's gonna take them.

I agree with you, and said as much above. The bloke deserved a slap. And of course you'd get one if you did the same at Elland Road.

You're in business to fill your ground. Giving us that entire end would have meant you had full home and away areas, less Leeds fans in the home end and tickets for all yours who wanted them.

Then you should be saying the same as I am rather than passively accepting it. That's a ridiculously ****e allocation if you could have taken double the amount.

Orderly queue! <laugh> Couldn't help but laugh at that. Reminds me of the brilliant scene from Airplane:

You'd have thought our fans would have learnt our lesson, but there were more scuffles in the home sections when we visited Blackpool on Tuesday! <laugh> Once again though, another case of them giving us 2,500 tickets when 3-4,000 would have been safer for all concerned.

How you consider giving you an extra allocation safer (including moving Season ticket holders) after what we are talking about here is the consequences of what happens when just one mouthy prick gets in to the wrong place is beyond me.

But you seem to have grown up with a 'pwease give me what I want or I will squeam and squeam' attitude. Are all people from Leeds like this?

You need to wake up and smell the coffee mate, your just another also ran championship club to us...

Another also-ran club who filled your ground for you and got you by far your highest attendance. Yeah right. Large allocations are always safer because it means fans likely to cause trouble are dispersed throughout the stand. That's why you tend to see trouble at games like Blackpool and Bristol City where we get small allocations, but almost never at Barnsley or Palace where we take 4-7,000. Hence also why there's so much violence at lower/non-league grounds compared with our level and the one above.

It also decreases the amount of incidents in home ends, for obvious reasons, and that's where the vast majority of in-ground incidents happen anyway, except for the odd bit of missile throwing.

Moving season ticket holders next to away fans is nothing new, and as long as there are Police, CCTV and stewards there, it won't kick off big time inside football stadiums.

Our highest attendance was against Coventry..

And we are due to sell out against Barnsley..

Apart from that the rest of what you said is complete nonsense.
