id say by Harry's lack of tactical know how,not his son...even Harry must realise that when he struggles to go toe to toe with Roberto Di Matteo in a match then he has got no chance at the international stage...so now he is in a bit of a pickle, since he sacrificed our season in order to appease himself and the press....next year he might not have England as an option...which makes me think....a lot of English clubs would want him...but would we?

  3. The trouble for Harry is that he could well lead us to 6th place, one place lower than last season's finish, and that would be counted as a massive failure on his part. How embarrassing then would it be for the FA that the best English manager, Alan Pardew, says "no" to the poison chalice, but Harry is begging like a puppy-dog to be removed from the Lane to escape the ire of us angry fans who are already viewing his handling of the current situation as an utter disgrace?

Let's offer Billic the job now, and be done with it. Having had a taste of National coaching, he'll not easily have his head turned away from the Spurs hot-seat.

Oh, by the way, some of the comments by Gooner wums, on that Sun news-page are utterly pathetic, and read like the worst excesses of JA606. The Gooner wums on this forum may be pathetic at times, but at least they come across as being slightly older than 12 years old.

HIAG mate. We didn't finish 4th last year. I do think Bilic could do a job for us though...

  8. <doh> [at myself!]

    Well spotted, Chirps!

I actually did mean to write "...6th, one place lower than last season..."

That's what happens when you try to sneak in a quick comment between jobs!

I told two Spurs fans on Facebook, I would love to take BAE off your hands and one reply was "I'll drive him up there myself" the other was "No chance" to put it mildly :)

What is BAE 's value to your team? is he salable?

cult figure more than anything else id say TD.

he has moments of brilliance...we at Spurs do like our game to be exciting...much to the detriment of the trophy cabinet it seems...and he has fitted into our philosophy well.

very exciting when in the mood...very calm and does his job most days...but on other days can be utter dire and allows the most simplest of wingers to get the better of him..because he plays like he is asleep.

i think if a manager came in that was serious about getting us somewhere beyond what has become our normal comfort zone then he would look at a left back that is good at defending first and foremost.

All of our players look shadows of the ones we saw first half of the season, none covering themselves in much glory. Up till Christmas, Benny was probably the most improved LB in the prem, not complete i agree, but good enough. Too many individual errors since, along with a good few others mind!, but has struck up a good understanding with Bale (when he's played wide! <steam>), so lets not be hasty. :)

He's one of the most underrated players in the league, partly because he isn't as flashy as Evra, Cashley or Baines are, but mostly because when he makes an error that gets highlighted and that sticks in fans' minds rather than the fact he makes two or three clangers a season, which is about average for most defenders yet they get protection either due to playing for unfashionable teams or playing for ones where the pundits used to play for their club so won;t slag the current players off.

im trying to answer the question that Benny does not pull up trees...and he doesnt...half seasons are meaningless im afraid...therefore consistency is an attribute that should be high on the priority list....if we want to forever float about 4th,5th,6th then yeh ok Benny is great...but either he steps up and wakes up or we wont improve in that position or others...and we can carry on being happy with mediocre finishes to promising seasons...i didnt say hes the worst player or that hes totally cack..but without a doubt theres major room for improvement there...however i dont mean to sound like i dont like the bloke as we could do so much worse and on his day he oozes class and looks like the best left back in the PL...so a bit of a conundrum for us.

    really hes not flashy?

hes probably the flashiest one there and certainly more so than Baines....and the other 2..love them or hate them are part of very succesful, trophy winning squads.

Baines seems to get forward more than Benny (although that's mainly because Pienaar's style of play allows him to - which once again begs the question as to whether 'Arry planned on moving Bale to LB then ditched the idea), and he certainly grabs more headlines...due to being English, and because he gets more goals.

i agree with that..thats because with our front 6 we shouldnt need our full back taking them risks..just shows that Bale hasnt been doing his job lately..

Yet you insist that it's not tiredness, Notso!
Played well, played a lot of games with virtually no break and virtually the same team, now not playing well at all and making mistakes.
    Hmm...
Sorry to harp on again, but I'm sure that you see my point.

As for BAE, he's a good player and he's adapted well to playing with different styles of left winger (Modric, then Bale).
We'd have to fork out some serious cash to get anyone better, in my opinion.

BAE did look as good as Evra or Baines when he played against us, a game I didn't enjoy.

You were missing key players for that game and had a poor start, though.
The early goals just killed your chances and it was a bit of a stroll after that.
