The Fail says it suspects it's ankle ligament damage, it doesn't confirm that it is and it doesn't really sound like Cairney knows what it is yet. Cairney14 ‏ @ThomasCairney Thanks for all the nice messages people I'm just in A&E at the minute there's just severe swelling on my foot just pray its not broken... Cairney14 ‏ @ThomasCairney @JoeLamplough cheers bro they don't think anythings broken anyway thank god! I appreciate the message I hope you and the fam are good.
Shame to see him get injured as he had a good game last night, hopefully the injury won't be too bad to put him out for the start of next season.
Nice to see Joe Lamplough is still playing, granted at a 4th division Spanish club. EDIT: Just noticed they are the club attatched to the Glenn Hoddle academy. Fair play.

I think Evans, McKenna, Cairney and Koren are more than what we need in the centre of midfield. Evans and McKenna have been a steady pairing in the centre all season, with McKenna being pretty consistent, and Evans having some really stand-out games, but getting stuck in when he isn't involved as much. Obviously Koren is great in that role he plays, creating and scoring goals. Then Cairney is another great option who can pick a pass and keep possession. I wouldn't really be interested in any more central midfielders. A keeper, a centre-back (until Hobbs gets back at least), and a winger are the main priorities. The striker dilemma is an odd one. If we continue with the current formation, we only really have one spot for a striker. It's hard to justify spending big on a new striker if he is just going to be sat on the bench, it would also seem harsh to leave Fryatt out next season.
I agree, Fryatt will be our main striker next season with Koren playing just off him. Our new strikers will be back up so I don't expect any big name signings or money spent. If we get a 'big name' player it will probably be a wide player.
As OLM said, that proves nothing. I had a suspected fracture in my arm which turned out to be a quadruple break, whilst a mate of mine had a suspected slipped disc when it turned out to be just a bruised spine.. safe to say after all of his complaints that we've never quite let that one go
I can only go by what their fans (who see him week in week out) have said on their board, and that is that he has been ****e. I think some of the comments were that they would pay £2.6m (being the price they paid for him) for him to piss off. It could be that he doesn't want to be there and that is why he's not performing, but that doesn't say much about the lads attitude if that's the case?
So, is he the number 9, number 5 or the number 3 in that video? Little bit confusing. As for Cairney, he looks like he finally understands the pace of this division, so barring a serious injury he can get his head down in pre season and become a solid midfielder and with any luck an ample replacement for the ageing (but still awesome) Paul McKenna.
Cairney injury can't be too bad, was at a presentation for south cave juniors tonight, was walking ok to me
I'd suggest looking at it slightly differently. You should aim to have 2 players for every position (ie a squad of 22 with kids an extra). We play 4231, and if Koren plays he is going to be in the 3 which means: For the 2 we have McKenna, Evans, and Cairney, and as far as I know there's no youth team product pushing for inclusion at the moment. Each offers something different, but we could do with a 4th, and it should be someone who falls between Evans and Cairney. ie someone who tackles more than Cairney and is more creative than Evans. That lets us pick and choose the balance of the midfield depending on the opposition. Moving into the 3 we only have Koren for the middle role (contracted for next season), so someone needs to come in to change that. That can resolve your issue about signing a new striker. Providing it's the bigger targetman type of striker we actually need and not another umpa lumpa on speed, it gives us the option of Fryatt being an alternative to either Koren (as a dropped off striker partner) or the other striker (as we've been this season). As with the midfielders in the 2, there wouldn't be a clear first choice and sub situation, it would be varied depending on the opposition and their strengths/weaknesses.
