Sorry i'm not buying into this line.. ........................................................ STEPHANE Sessegnon has urged Sunderland to overcome their tired legs and better their achievements from last season. Sessegnon concedes fatigue has played a part in Sunderlandâs decline over the last month, with Martin OâNeillâs side winning just one of their last eight games. But the Benin international is confident Sunderland can register the five points needed from the final four games to overhaul last seasonâs tally of 47. âOf course, thereâs a bit of tiredness,â added the 27-year-old. âWeâre approaching the end of the season and the Premier League is very difficult. You donât get any easy matches and of course you get tired. âBut itâs not an excuse. Weâve got to keep being solid and have the desire to do as well as we can for the rest of the season. Thereâs four matches left and we want to finish the season on a high. âWe want to do better than last year and thereâs only four matches that we can do that in. Weâre all desperate to finish in the top 10 and Iâm sure weâll give everything because itâs important to do that. âIt was our objective at the start of the season and we need to go into the summer having finished the year well. .................................................................. Every team is in the same position, so to say it's tiredness is a pretty feeble excuse....
Sess is right even if he seems to contradict himself. Fatigue is a reason, not an excuse, and this is justified as we have hardly been able to rotate players due to a small squad, suspensions and injuries etc. and don't forget we had a cup run for once with replays! Teams fighting for Champions league have larger squads of quality players, and those fighting for premier league survival can't afford to be tired. They all still have that psychological desire that ensures they run on adrenalin right to the end. It is MON's job now to provide that final bit of motivation so our season doesn't just peter out. I think maybe he will change things this weekend. Freshen it up to give the fringe players an opportunity to show what they can do before the summer clearout, and make the 'regulars' realise they are playing for their places just as much as anyone. I expect going to Villa may also be an extra motivation for MON too, and maybe some of our players who recall Bent saying he was going to a bigger club!
For me I don’t get all this tiredness lark. There athletes, there well paid to do it and adored by fans. That should be enough to motivate them. The Wolves game looked like they were all thinking of their summer holidays instead of the job at hand. A few of them need a kick up the arse from MON
They should send them to do training over the summer holidays with these native americans (Mexico): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarahumara_people
Sessegnon doesn't actually contradict himself - the Article says Sessegnon's words say it's not an excuse so there is no contradiction from the player - just from the article itself and the journalist that wrote it By the way - I agree with heironymus - playing so many games in a short space of time and having a small squad is the reason we are tired
I'd say this is partially correct, but add that if the rest of the squad were better players, they'd have been rotated more. Not quite enough depth there at the moment IMO
I also find this tired legs malarkey a bit of a mystery! They usually play one game a week, with the odd midweek game thrown in..With the training techniques and special diets they have these days this shouldn't pose any physical difficulties. It is my theory that it is mental rather than physical tiredness that sets in, which is why you often see that it is the teams who still have major goals to aim for do better at the end of the season...
Against Everton at home in the league, Moyes had brought in a few reserves 5, MoN did not bring in any. The only couple I think who are worth a start or bringing on are Vaughan and Campbell ( although I would also like to see Meyler given a chance). My guess is MoN also thinks most of the bench are not up to it e.g. Elmo. We do not have a proper striker fit and scoring goals in the squad. When Brown and O'Shea are fit they will challenge for CB, but if Bendtner is playing Campbell can only go RW, so Larsson is off unless somebody gives way in CM, although if Catts knee is knacked he should be left out until it is better. Although we do miss his big gob exhorting the team on. We do need strikers, another winger and a creative midfielder, could be expensive to find them mind, although a do expect a few to leave, if Gordon goes for nowt it will be a pity but I suspect he is on big wages? Gardner go go although he is cover for RB and we need to offer Sess a new contract, I'll carry Bendtner down to London myself if that would help. Ji and WIckham out on loan next season. Next year will be make or break for Campbell as well. Soo yes I think the players are knackered Larsson looked it last game did he not, but MoN's thinking is we only have 12/13 playrs that are good enough in the squad so rotation is not possible.
It's horse ****e to me as well. Tennis players often play 2 to 3 hour grueling matches every other day in tournaments and play 20 tournaments a year. They get no rest bites and yet rarely moan about fatigue, even though they are entitled to. I think footballers are just soft ****es who need a reality check about what real work is, by people like us, and for a fraction of the money they earn.
I think its all mental not physical. We've achieved our goal for the season so we've lost the eye of the tiger so to speak that you have when you are gunning for something.
I dont buy that either. The top players who have the desire and the ability dont get leg weary or mentally tired. What you are effectively saying is that we have sub standard players that have been made to play way beyond their ability, and who are now buggered. They are simply not good enough. Thats why I hope MoN will change a few of them in the summer and again next January.
I know one thing. I really am fatiguedddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd, oh bugger. xzzxzxzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
