Hope he's OK, I said as he sat down it looked bad, anyone know what he's done? Thought he played really well again tonight, looks a different player to the one in the middle of the season, getting stuck in and even a few nice passes and touches with his right foot tonight!
He's a great player and my fear is that this injury might be yet another barrier that keeps him from being in the first team. If it's a big injury and he misses pre-season he won't be able to get back into the team as easily as Hobbs will. He needs a proper run to cement his place in the team so I really hope it isn't a serious one.
He has tweeted to say there's a lot of swelling but he hopes it isn't a break. Nothing more than that at the minute.
I think we are okay in middle of midfield. Evan, Mckenna, Koren, Cairney and possibly Oli. I don't think we need anybody else for next season.
Brady can play there as well, if he stays here. Although like Stewart he needs to pull his finger out. Hopefully we'll be looking at a couple of strikers, some wingers, defenders (incase of injury) and a keeper. That's if we get the money Barmby wants.
I didn't mean the centre mid part, I meant having him back in general. Can't say I rate him at all - never looks up. Came on yesterday and within a couple of minutes he could have practically had Dawson in on goal. Instead he didn't even notice him and ran into trouble. One example perhaps but it sums him up.
If he works on his passing with both feet and the tempo of his passing he'd be an even greater assett. I like how he keeps the ball and the fact he's got a crakcin shot on him. He needs to bulk up a bit and all. He's still quite lightweight.
I don't get the attitude from many fans that he needs to be an 'all-round' player. Seriously, how many players do we actually have that are all-rounders? I don't see why he needs to be, he could do with being a bit better with his right foot (Ie actually being able to use it to run, not necessarily to shoot) but other than that, I don't see the problem. The whole idea of having 2 central midfielders IMO is so that one can do one job, and the other can do another. Which is why Evans/McKenna is too defensive for my liking.
That's what I mean. Evans is a bit of an 'all-rounder' because he can do most things, but the problem seems to be that he can't do any of them especially well. The best thing about Evans is his wilingness to get into a tackle. If it isn't worth playing someone who can create like Cairney can just because he isn't a tackler as well, why is it okay to play two defensive ones who can't create?
Trouble is that if he bulks up a bit he may lose his lightening speed. Thought I'd have problems writing that.
I was going to name Evans at first but didn't because of exactly what you've said. He sort of is but sort of isn't. His shooting is just plain weird. Either it hits the bar or it goes out for throw-in.
