If everyone became vegetarian, what do you think would happen to the remaining livestock?
I'm not saying that vegetarians are encouraging killing, but that the OP's fourth point isn't relevant to the argument, as the creatures whose deaths he is mourning wouldn't have existed without meat consumption.
As I've already stated, complaining about the way that those animals are treated is an argument for the promotion of the ethical treatment of them, rather than vegetarianism.
Without the system that you're bemoaning there wouldn't be any lives to lose.
Farmers wouldn't keep these animals as pets.

Although there are many small farms, petting zoos etc. which keep animals such as domesticated breeds of cow, sheep etc.

You could also argue that hunting for birds such as pheasant and grouse means that areas are preserved for the ecological benefit of all indigenous wildlife, such as hedgerows and moorland to accommodate this 'sport' -a term that needs to be used loosely in this case, as to equate people's needs in terms of blasting avifauna out of existence to conservation should also call into question people's priorities and moral stance -putting that aside, grouse and pheasant populations are enhanced by such activity.

PleaseNotPoll -I don't have an argument simply because you do not have an argument, however, if you wish to pursue this futile line line of reasoning ...

My point is that they'd be killed and their numbers wouldn't be replaced.

Which is entirely accurate. I'm not saying that this is the aim of vegetarians though, obviously.

What's nonsensical about it? As long as they're treated well, why does it matter why they're bred?
Is it better to be bred for that purpose or not bred at all?

I'm thinking I'm maybe not eating enough animals. Maybe I should eat at least two different type of animals a day.

I've had a road to Damascus experience. After reading Matthew 5:9 I've decided to switch sides:

Where do I sign up, and is the homosexuality compulsory?

You eat dairy don't you? If so, you are putting money in the pockets of the farmers who raise cattle for meat thus helping to sustain that system. Go vegan if you want to make a difference.
