You beat me to it mate...I was just thinking about putting something on here about hoping Coventry go down...
I met a Coventry fan last week in Somerset. We got chatting..."Who's your team?" He said...Sunderland, I replied. He started to grin, allot. What's so funny? I asked him. He then informed me he supported Coventry and every time he talked to a Sunderland fan Jimmy Hill was always the first topic. Anyway we exchanged meaningless pleasantry's over a *** for a while till it was time to go...I turned back to him and said. "Good luck with relegation", with a big I don't mean it grin, of course.
Not that we all hold grudges of course............................. It would make me smile if they did get relegated mind, a sort of justice after all these years !
Call yourself a Mackem. "At the end of the 1976-77 season, Jimmy, then managing director of Coventry City, ensured that their game against Bristol City, kicked off late so that they would know what relegation rivals Sunderland were doing in their game at Everton. When news of Sunderland's defeat filtered through to Highfield Road, Hill relayed the score over the tannoy the players proceeded to pass the ball around for the remainder of the game to achieve the draw that would mean Coventry & Bristol City stayed up. Sunderland were relegated" That's why we hate Jimmy.
****ing hate Coventry for the reasons Cyprus has stated, I still remember now the gloom of that night. Send 'em down Millwall!
TM - the chaps forgot to mention to make it worse Hill was a "pundit" on MOTD and he used to preach on the rights and wrongs that were going on in football the two faced gob**te
Sorry marra, totally disagree on that. Did you see their recent game with Leeds? Rolling around 5,6,7 times like they'd bee shot with a .303. Four or five times the twats did it. Biggest bunch of diving ****s I've ever seen. Hope they go straight back down & are never heard of again.
Na, they've always been a decent bunch when i've came across them Billy. That was quite a nasty game, Warnock had sent Leeds players out to kick and disrupt Reading, this was an occasion where I didn't mind it, probably saved some serious injuries.
