Whats happened to this lad? I thought he was gona go on to big things when we sold him for 3m. He was once our top academy prospect, now his career seems to have gone down the pan in Leicester reserves!

Martyn Thomas Waghorn (born 23 January 1990) is an English footballer who plays for Leicester City[2] as a striker. Waghorn had been with Sunderland since the age of eight and made his first team debut for the club in December 2007 against Manchester United at the age of 17. He has had loan spells with Charlton Athletic and Leicester City before joining the side on a permanent deal on 31 August 2010.

Like you Teeside, I too thought that this lad had it in him to make the grade...It's sad to see him fall back so far..

He was a fans favourite at Leicester when he was on loan and I was looking forward to get him back. Not sure whats happened to him?
It'd be interesting to hear what the Leicester fans have got to say about him, but I doubt they'll be many on here??

Thin he got a hamstring when he was on loan to hull in December, went bac to leicester, and as far as i can tell never got a game, so not sure if he is still injured, or just out of favour.

My other halfs dad is a Leicester fan. I asked him about Waghorn, he said he is a superb player but has been injured. As above he did not fit into Svens plans so went on loan and did well but has been injured since.

I dare bet Jordan will suffer a similar fate in another 18 months to 2 years.

We (Hull City) had him on loan for a few months earlier this season just as he'd got involved with the U21's then he got a hamstring injury (possibly whilst on England duty?) halfway through the loan spell which buggered things up a bit, then when flat top quit to go back to Leicester he immediately took him back.
He looked a quality player and I personally would love to see him back here in Amber & Black.

I remember being at the Darlo V Sunderland game a few years back (poor opposition I know, and yes, I was in the Darlo end) and he came on off the bench I think and just looked a class apart from anyone else on the pitch. Can't believe he isn't playing in the prem, seemed to have so much potential.

Think he'll go out on loan next year to get games under his belt. Thought we did well to get 3m for him but then I saw England u21 play and they had this £8m striker upfront who was painfully slow, had a crap first touched and was getting blown off the ball. He was replaced by Waghorn who looked ten times better .

Yeah Wickham is crap <doh> - get a grip lads - he's hardly had a kick for us and we are slating him on here. How would your confidence be if you were a bit part player? Wickham looked the business in the Championship and also looked a very good player for us earlier in the season.

Why do our fans judge such a young player so quickly instead of giving him the benefit of the doubt?

He's lived on the strength of one canny goal running from the halfway line against a crap Sheffield Utd defence. Bit like John Barnes against Brazil. I'd love to be wrong but can't see much talent there at the moment.

I watched him earlier this season and he looked a decent player - for the U21's and in the Championship he looked good as well - There were times when he was holding the ball up seperbly well and had a good first touch - that seems to have gone along with his confidence - there was a lot more to him than that goal against Sheff Utd mate - I watched a bit of him last season whilst working in East Anglia and he looked a very good player when I saw him - what annoys me is that people have been slagging him off - he's 19 and it's the first time he's ever played at the PL level FFS - O'Neill also said he was impressed and saw big things from the lad - give him time is all I say as he hasn't had any yet

Wickham must have more to him than one good goal against Shef Utd. Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool were all linked with him. Give the lad a chance!

Im more than willing to give him a chance and would never get on his back at a game but I just don't see it happening for the lad. I try to see positives in players and i can even in the likes of elmo (anyone see Egypt last week). I would like to see him start a game before the season end but he really needs a years loan.
