This sounded like a really good game, with the first half to Watford and the second to Brighton. Our season may be over as far as getting up, but it is good enough for people to want to see what we can do next season.
Shame we couldn't hold on for all three points, but I think Luke Ashmead was right in saying that this is all about next season, and it sounded like there were some very good signs of things to come tonight, as there have been for a good couple of months. Other than Kuszcak, I can't see any of tonight's starting XI leaving in the summer (unless Dyche decides to get rid of them).
Quote of the day from Luke Ashmead. "L*t*n vs Kidderminster. It couldn't be any bigger. IT COULDN'T BE ANY MORE IMPORTANT!"
Didn't he say to BHD the other day that he would "play for nothing"? Surely we can offer him more than that.
SD has another go at the pitch at the Vic. " Slightly disappointed not to get three points. We are building for next season. We are looking for another six points."
Going into my Victor Meldrew mode again, I cannot believe it. There we are going into a game against a team that did have expectations of promotion earlier this season, a team that has players of a decent quality, bought on the sort of money that we don't have. We get a draw against this side, play some good football at times on a decent pitch and more than hold our own against them. What comments do I read from supposed Watford fans? " Not good enough." "Can't hold on to a two goal lead." I haven't even looked at the WO yet. For goodness sake, we lost the heart out of our team last summer, yet SD has built us up into something approaching a decent Championship side. With little money to spend he has brought together a group of players who give their all for the team. Yes there are improvements that could be made, but let's not have a go at them after a well fought game that we didn't lose.
Happy with a point , even if we squandered a lead , looking at bbc and espn stats brighton had more chances than us and lets face it we knew bucko would score
More than happy with a point, just a tad disappointed to lose a two goal lead, but onwards and upwards
Murray goal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVfScMTg4lQ Deeney... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxsVv39VcUw As for the WO comments..I notice there have been a lot less since our good run started and if there is any criticisim its towards Bas. Somebody did moan about the style of play at home games though.
Saw the goals on SSN this morning, great strike by Murray and a very well taken pen by Deeney Nothing TK could do for the first but the defence looked asleep for WB's. Like everyone else will be made up if we can beat the points total set by BR and MM SD needs all the accolades the way he has done it his way!
Whilst we were waiting for Murray to take his free-kick, I said to my mates daughter "I bet he scores" - she says, "I bet he doesn't" and we agree a £5 wager....as she is a student, I cannot see me collecting on the bet!
We have two matches to score two points to be better than Malky Mackays total of 61 last season or rise one position to be higher than Brendan Rodgers 13. seat finish in 2008-2009.
