"It is important for everybody to go through some bad bits to realise how good the good bits are. I've been there before and I suppose I will be there again at some stage." Kenny dalglish This is not the most important quote... I'd like to show you two quotes from an idiot. "Scholes return papers over the cracks" Phil McNulty | 18:47 UK time, Sunday, 8 January 2012 "If you are going to cover up cracks at a football club, doing it with silverware is a highly attractive option - and one that clearly appeals to Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish." Phil McNulty Saturday, 14 April 2012 ......... Clearly a lot of people agree with this fool. I on the other hand would like to point to the grand drama that is football. As it unfolds about us theres is only one sure fire thing, some idiot will say something he'll live to regret saying. Luckily 90% of the time people forget that they do and thier job as a pundit rolls on from stupid statement to stupid statement. Football is marvellous at making red faces, and frankly the amount of crack papering that Mcnulty talks about makes me wonder if I printed his articles out would i even rate them highly enough to wipe my ass with them.... I doubt it. Utd 5 points clear and a near certainity for the title unless they lose a coule in short order..... those cracks must have been huge yeah? Then LFC, who nobody could possibly have thought would have been in the top 4 had it not been for near cataclismic collapses at arsenal and chelsea, get to an FA cup final and pocket the carling cup to boot? Those cracks must indeed be massive. WOW.... I could go on, highlighting the comments of aldridge who I can only say sounds bitter and mean spirited towards the man who both bought and sold him yet I find the voice in the wilderness he provided in the G&H era just enough to refrain from pillioring him as well. Football is all about the ups and downs, all about the show. It should be about enjoying the high moments and the low as two parts of the whole. I personally know there's no divine right to anything and am genuinely grateful for two cup finals, I'll enjoy the next one more than the last I think. I do not want to be the type of fan who doens't bother to watch games cos they expect to win then turn up for the last day and celebrate thier win. I know perosnally plenty of those who support the "big teams" guys who don't know when their team is playing for sure or who was on the pitch last time out. The type who demand 50million pound buys or else the manager must do then 9 months later turn up to calim the trophy won as thier own... or not at all cos they won nowt. I'd rather follow my team through the ups and downs, hoping, willing and cursing and getting nowhere than having easy victories than mean nothing. Kenny is right, let the knockers mouth off. We'll keep working and trying our best on the pitch, no matter who is in charge I just want to see the best being put in
Mcnulty's articles have got steadily worse. It appears he shapes them round tweeted attention grabbing one liners. The BBC sports writers have become more & more tabloid. It's a continuation of a policy the BBC follow in general: competing with the commercial market, on their level. I pay my licence fee so that the BBC can take the classier level of journalism & programme making. Its suppose to be the whole point of it! It appears my money is wasted.
Nothing else needs to be said. Fantastic thread MITO Best I've seen on here for a long time. I know a lot of people don't like Kennys interviews, but over the last few weeks he's been fantastic and made some valid and well said points. And that quote you picked out is one of them.
Great thread MITO, my thoughts exactly. When I read that blog from Mcnulty yesterday I just laughed. The bloke is losing it.
McNulty is an idiot. However MITO, he was right with his quote about Scholes - irrespective of United's chances of winning the title. Even more then last season, it has been the problems that other sides have encountered rather than the quality of United's play that have put them in their present position. The cracks are most certainly there.
utd will win the league... if they buy 3 more players they could concievable get to another cl final! We just wish there were cracks there. If utd don't get their 3 players and also lose a couple then thats wehere they will start to disimprove.... utd are NOT liverpool fc in 1990/1991. they rely totally on two aged players... we had lots of aged players. utd have a young side, they've the keepers, defenders and forwards, prob wingers too... they need cms.... i don't buy cracks.... they are not about to fall apart.
Can't agree with you there MITO., it will take more than 3 players. However, this is a sideline to this thread.
agreed. I think they have the quality as long as ferguson is running the show... thats always the great unknown with any club
Ha ha: there's always that Option! Only stuff I like on bbc now is wild life programmes! God I'm an old fart!
to use a bad analogy... If i were emperor for a day and organised some gladiatorial bouts... well i'd put paul tomkins and phil mcnulty in the ring and then feed the survivor to the lions. The same holds true for members of destiny's child mind.... If I were made god father for a day i would merely have mcnulty beaten to a pulp with his own shoe.
