Is this a good transfer policy. I know it's probably been done before but last year we took three players from relegated teams Larrson Gardner Vaughan I don't think we took any other relegated players. I bring this up as I have seen us linked with a few Wolves players. Now if you buy enough players from relegated teams do you eventually end up getting relegated? So how do you think our players from relegated teams have faired this season? Would you say they were a success and who has been most successful? Which transfer policy seems to work better, relegation ones or the fringe players of better teams, or thwe unknown players from foreign climates!
So what your saying is that when we were relegated, whoever got Kevin Philips bought a duck egg, stop writing rubbish mate and try to say something constructive.
Any team that goes down will always have a few quality players, simply due to the standard of the league. Nowt wrong with skimming the cream, we're not a top 6 side, so can't realistically expect to buy better players from clubs 7th-15th. Fletcher, Hennesey, Taarabt, Roger Johnson, Jamie O'Hara, Pedersen, Yakubu, N'Zonzi, Olsson. All of these and more would strengthen us, some as a team, all as a squad, a few would enhance teams even higher than us.
Yep, I missed a few, was 'top of my head' stuff. Hoillett is going to be one of the stars of the league next season (be nice if it was for us...)
I think it's a policy that should be used with care and mixed with others. I certainly wouldn't like all our players to be relegation pickings. There are clearly bargains to be had, demba ba being the best last season. It's going to be interesting to see MONs transfer policy. At the end of the day I think we can all see the current squad has short comings but there is a decent foundation there.
After reading a post on RTG I went on Heros and Villains and with the return of MoN on Saturday have been giving liberally of there opinions. They did not like it that he left them in the lurch with the season starting in a few days, some row with the owner over funds/players was the cause apparently. They also reckon he bought too many poor players and paid them too much money leaving the club in the financial lurch. They recognise that we will go for a striker and consider that MoN will only fish in a very small pond. MoN coming to Sunderland was a step down from Villa. Who we bring in will depend on Short and how he budgets so perhaps we go for relegation players or will h go. For overseas, he does see to have a penchant for Uk Players.
Not a big fan of buying relegated players but, Larsson and Gardner of those three have done well. Vaughan not so much but, not a total waste of space so we did okay this time around.
Id rather have Vaughan here next year than Gardner and would consider him the better signing considering he cost £ 5m less
We are laughing if we can recoup the money for Gardner when you consider there's siguurdsens out there for £7m. What did cabaye cost Newcastle? I hope Mon has his scouts scouring Europe.
