Its no less special tbh. Now if Man City v Man Utd was on the same day, at the same time then perhaps it would be an issue. You are just all looking for something to moan about. If the trains were running as normal it would make even more sense to have it later. Its also not the first time its kicked off later. 1993 replay did. You are not being targeted, I REPEAT, LIVERPOOL ARE NOT BEING TARGETED.....unless........of course, thats it........this was planned all along, the FA knew Liverpool would make the final and of course the FA does all it can to hamper LFC so they moved the final, not only the date but the time. Devilishly evil some might say....
I am more than aware that Liverpool are not being targeted, the issue is the FA are making a mockery of what was their show piece event. They did the same last year (also adding the semi finals to be played at Wembley) what's the excuse going to be next year?
I know I was having a laugh with that. Sometimes though some of your fellow supporters give the impression they feel like that. Next year it may well return to the last day of the english football season. We will have to wait and see. I dont get the semi finals though, little bit daft but the FA did make a big cock up with wembley and need to get some money back somehow. They whore wembley out for everything these days. Bring back Villa Park semi finals I say!
The 3PM Saturday kick off for the FA Cup final was about the last vestige of tradition left in the game - and now it's gone. It really is a shame that more imagination couldn't have been used - what's wrong with having all the other games on the Sunday instead?
1993 FA Cup Final replay between Arsenal and Sheffield Wednesday did not kick off at 3pm. That was in 1993 so it shows on occasion the decision is made to move the kick off times of even the oldest cup finals. The FA cup Finals hasnt always been held at Wembley either, not just the move to Cardiff a few years back. Crystal Palace stadium was the home of the final for many years. I believe it even hosted finals in the 80's. The tradition of the FA cup is that its the primary cup final in domestic english football. It still holds this status and will continue to do so for many years. It was once the only televised game all season, now its not.
I'm sure I read when they were rebuilding Wembley that the architects specifically designed the roof so that the pitch would be in full sunlight at 3pm in May
Guys, without the travel problems you will face, the later kick off should be a benefit to LFC fans. I heard some of you were up at 3am to make the semi final and a 3pm kick off wouldnt be too much difference. Is it the travel thats the issue or is it the traditionalist in each of you?
or you could sit there, think ****, this clever **** is right again Let me reassure you, at no stage has any poster on this site EVER thought that about a singular post you have regurgitated on these boards.
They also awarded the contract to build Wembley to the dodgiest builder offering the biggest brown envelope. Part of the fkn roof fell down ffs, a construction fiasco to put it mildly, when engineers make screwups like that it doesn't inspire confidence when sitting in a seat looking up at the roof. The FA see the FA Cup semis and final as nothing more than an income, wake up people.
Its also not the first time its kicked off later. 1993 replay did. That wasn't on a Saturday, was it? I think the '81 replay between Spurs and City was the same.
Yep, you can really see the results of development with no good english young players coming through, **** grounds all over the country rich areas apart. And the FA with nice expenses travelling first class and driving nice expensive cars, yep development is great The FA themselves absorb millions every year, a very very self serving orga.. business
I did say in theory lol. I agree with you on this though. In theory the FA should be spending money developing the game but the truth is probably quite some distance from that.
I did actually think you say in theory after I posted, or rather thought you'd reit that Lemon haze has me in a bunch, I think I am getting claire voiant who ever she is
Oh they have, many times. Single* Really doesn't surprise me that you're single. Just surprises me that you don't try and pass off your blow-up doll as your partner.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing and I am putting mine into operation now. I checked when the final was after our win against Everton and the FA website stated "The cup final will be at 3pm on Saturday 5th May and all premier league games originally penned in for that day will be moved to Sunday 6th May so the inetgrity of the cup final is not jeopardised. Following last yuears cup final, it is our intention to make the final a stand alone game for all football fans to enjoy" It also went on to say that the idea of having a 5.15pm kick off had been considered but decided against. A day or two later and the statement had been changed and the game had reverted to 5.15 on the same day as premier leagu8e fixtures - ****ing joke!
Apparently Liverpool MPs have written to Branson to get him to personally intervene: network rail won't suspend the planned maintenance as they could be penalised financially by Virgin. If Virgin state they'll wave these penalties they can work out a more normal service provision on the day. It's ridiculously sad that our national politicians have to talk to two private companies about re-organising their entire business plan because some fat good ol' boys at the FA put a few more Bucks above reputation & fans. Because seriously: if they change it Sky will surely walk away and not cover football next year won't they!
