Wasn't it moved forward last year for the Champions League final? They had to play it two weeks before to prepare the pitch?

I will say this though. The travel and the railway thing, that does ****ing suck and they could have done a better job with that!

As said Bluff, the WCML thing has been planned for over a year and is being done in May so as to be ready for the summer. The FA have know about it since well before they come up with this wheeze of a 17.30 kick-off on 5th May. Only conclusion is that they were praying that no NW team would make it to the final, though they've known since the semi-final draw that there would be.

All joking aside, wasn't there concerns before a semi in '89 at Sheffield for the second year running that Merseyside fans would struggle to make a 3pm kick-off no matter how early they set off due to road works between Manchester and Sheffield?

No probs though, if anything goes wrong they've probably already formulated a cover story with the police and News international that it was all the fault of pissed Scousers.

Who's angry, just fed up with this forum turning into a 606 re-run. Where twats like you get an opportunity to spout constant bolloxs. What anti-Liverpool mumbo crap?

And as for the national team, why couldn't they play a game at old trafford or villa park? The cup final has been arranged for this date, for no other reason than to line the FA coffers.

Taking the date out of the discussion; the time ON the date selected shows the FA to be money grabbing feckers.

Just move all the Premier league fixtures to the Sunday and put the FA cup at the correct time of 3 or even 2pm. Then you have at least alleviated the travel problems.

How would this have negatively effected the England team?

And whoever was going to show whatever match can show them on the Sunday.

But as long Sky & the Premier league get their money sure don't worry about devaluing the oldest and most famous cup competition in the world.

Just because I support United doesnt mean I dont pay some attention to other clubs. Just because I am a United fan doesnt mean I am wrong. Simple isnt it. You asked a question and I gave you the correct answer. If anything you should be moaning at those who offered no answer just came and moaned.

If it was all about money then SKY would have every game televised all over the world live. They dont. Of course much of it is money orientated but the reason the final is on the date it is is purely because the england team, Gerrard included, asked for more rest between the end of the season and the start of the championships. Its been on going for years and I think only now the FA is listening.

The time is purely because Premier League and Football League fixture take priority on a saturday for 3pm kick offs. Been that way for ever I think. For the FA cup to get the best possible viewing figures and for the police to have the best handle on the game a later kick off is clearly the only option. Im not sure which cockney clubs are playing on that date at home ut I suspect 90000 extra fans at Wembley will be hard for the MET to handle on top of the normal games and day to day policing. Dont quote me on that one, its just an opinion.

You have a valid point about the police,

It was the Met that recommended to the FA that our semi-final kicked off early to 'stifle the amount of drink consumed before the game and to lessen the chance of trouble'.
Trouble between reds and blues is as rare as rocking horse ****e compared to the history of 'dislike' and trouble between Chelsea and Spurs fans who got the ok from the police to drink all day sunday and let their match kick off at 5.30.

Dont know which London teams are at home that weekend but you can bet there'll be a few skirmishes thanks to the FA,Sky and the Metropolitan Police.

So, in other words, you base your opinions on no facts nor evidence that would stand up to any scrutiny?

    The police one......

Oh it does, but I have no source to back it up and of course that means everything online.

You could offer a counter opinion though, a reason I may be mistaken or you could sit there, think ****, this clever **** is right again and post some pointless and stupid response that has nothing to do with the matter at hand...

oh, I see you already did. :D

Historically, the FA Cup had the highest worldwide audience for any UK based sporting event. It will still probably have a larger worldwide audience than the finals of the Euros. Therefore why diminish that potential by staging it during a general league date? There is absolutely no validity to the claim that potential England squad players need that time before they go to their training camp!

Except that is the exact reason. It was discussed in the summer, all clubs and all fans should of known about it.

The smallest bit of research also says the FA planned this a year ago and that only Liverpool are complaining.

Perhaps they should of complained 12 months ago?

The travel aspect is a farce mind, MEGABUS is the answer though!

    Stupidity should always be challenged!

Its the same crackpots as always disagreeing with me though, tends to be an ABU thing. More sensible LFC fans though can probably understand the simplicity of the decision. It just makes sense in footballing terms. In a normal season the FA Cup would be 4 or 5 weeks before the Euros, this time its 7/8 weeks. Much more time to rest, prepare and perform........in theory ( this is england after all )

Ever failure we have the same line is used, we were tired, its a long season, there wasnt enough time between the end of the season and the start of the championshps. Am I wrong?

Just because it was discussed doesn't make it right. Come on now, if Utd were in the final you would want the FA Cup to be that special day it always was. The FA have messed it up royally, other leagues are still playing so why does the precious England players need more time? They don't even have a manager organised yet so what's the hurry?
