Bale has shown no signs of wanting to leave, we may well lose Modric and Adebayor might not stay but I don't think that's enough to call it a rebuilding job.

VDV has said he wants to stay regardless but I think we'd be foolish to throw away the current crop of players who are very good, in favour of a long term plan. We can do both with a more experienced manager.

I wouldn't argue with any of that, but if you don't get CL and a serious offer comes in for Bale it is possible his head would be turned? As you say, Ade is off and with Modric possible to go too, while "rebuilding job" may be harsh there's definitely scope for trying something a little different? Brendan, and the Swans, have shown what can be done with a little perseverance and willingness to possibly forego immediate results so it wouldn't surprise me at all if Levy has approached Rodgers. If he does go to Spurs, I'd imagine it would have had to be under a "don't worry about your first season as long as we finish in the top 6 or 7, but the season after we expect CL"?

Guys Rodgers is going nowhere, and if he did so what, the players are ours, hell even Bart Simpson can manage this squad, besides Huw Jenkins has the Midas touch when it comes to selecting managers, Kenny Jacket, Martinez, Sousa, Rodgers, so lets not get our nickers in a twist over paper talk, and Ivor stop squeaking will you!................ <laugh>

Think I'd go with spurs fans on this, they obviously know more about their club than us, and wouldn't go for such an inexperienced manager in Brendan to take the hot seat at a huge club like theirs at this time in his career, if he manages to keep us up next season and a few after maybe then ?

How about Martinez for the spurs job ? I would say he has the experience to take on a bigger challenge, though spurs maybe a step to far ?

If I were a Spurs fan I'd not be looking any further than Mick McCarthy - experienced and available <whistle> ...or Steve Bruce.

Yeah, I have a feeling I said it before on your board but Coppell got Reading 8th in their first season in the PL then took them down, Jewell got Wigan 10th and the next season they barely survived. Rodgers' second season will tell us far more, this time last season some of our fans were touting Coyle to replace 'Arry if he left.

I wouldn't have Martinez either, he's done well but I'd rather a manager with Champions League experience to take us forward. If I were to pick anyone from the PL it would probably be Moyes, closely followed by Jol(again).

whether it is a good move or a bad move... if brendan is offered the chance then he will take it, he believes in his philosophy and his ability and he has said he would only move if a big clubs comes in for him, i think the deal is already in the bag for him now as there has been no response from huw that he will battle to keep him like he is saying about siggs.....

"i think the deal is already in the bag for him now "

Based on what? The Sun and silence from the Swans? Not enough Dai - not by a long chalk. The Club don't respond to every single story in the press. It's speculation and nothing more. If I was a Spurs fan I'd be really concerned that my club is almost certainly going into the Champions League with such an inexperienced manager.

It may well happen but I for one will be shocked if it does.

rubbish, spurs will be lucky to finish in the top 4 with their poor run of form, as i predicted when they were 3rd with a 10 point cushion.

Oh OK so he's gone then <doh>

Even if they don't get CL they'll come pretty close and have clear aspirations to do it sooner rather than later. At those giddy heights would you want a manager with one season under his belt in the top division to take you to the next level?

I think I know the answer.

I love that brief interview with Huw! "I think this is a better challenge than going to a club or two who realistically will still be falling way behind your Man City's etc"... wonder who he could mean? Possibly a little harsh on Spurs, but you can't argue with the league.

Yes I heard that, Scott. Have to say the underlying tone for me was not encouraging. "I hope we don't have to go through the whole process again" and "We've always adapted when people have left" [words to that effect].

I still think Spurs would be mad to take him and he'd be equally mad to go but that doesn't mean it won't happen, unfortunately.

I'll take the 5 million & feel somewhat encouraged . I want Buck to stay ...but ... if the possibility of Buck's leaving ,for 5 million , is all we have to worry about then times are reasonably good !!

£5M isn't that much at this level, Breezy. Rodgers has been the architect of our recent success - promotion and keeping us there. To lose him for what I think is a paltry sum - not much compo really in the scheme of things imo.

I would take continuity over financial gain.
