Sir Alex Ferguson expects to sign two or three new players for United this summer. The manager revealed this during a press conference in New Jersey, where he announced the clubââ¬â¢s pre-season tour of the USA. When asked if he expects to have the funds to strengthen his squad in the next transfer window, Sir Alex replied: ââ¬ÅWe have certain targets in mind at the moment anyway. I think two or three will be fulfilled, thereââ¬â¢s no question about that. ââ¬ÅThe Glazer family have always been very supportive of our desires to improve the team.ââ¬Â The manager went on to talk about the clubââ¬â¢s track record of acquiring top young players and developing them at Old Trafford. ââ¬ÅWhat we are good at is bringing young players to the club, like Chicharito for example. If you look at how, over the last six to eight years, weââ¬â¢ve brought in young players like Ronaldo, Rooney ââ¬â okay, one was seventeen, the other was eighteen ââ¬â weââ¬â¢re good at that. I donââ¬â¢t see why we should change from what weââ¬â¢re good at. ââ¬ÅWe will continue [to buy players], without question, and when the opportunity does arrive and we identify the right young players, thatââ¬â¢s the way weââ¬â¢ll go.ââ¬Â It remains to be seen which areas of the squad Sir Alexââ¬â¢s targets are intended for, although he did suggest his attacking ranks are currently well stocked. ââ¬ÅIn the present situation, with the likes of Chicharito, I think we have possibly some of the best young strikers in the country. Danny Welbeck, whoââ¬â¢s at Sunderland at the moment, is an excellent young prospect. And the boy Mame Diouf whoââ¬â¢s at Blackburn is another good prospect. ââ¬ÅWeââ¬â¢re particularly strong with young strikers at the moment for some strange reason. Sometimes it works that way.ââ¬Â .................................................................................................................... Deals have already been done it seems but I doubt we will see anyone major in
But when they inevitably don't arrive, no one is going to state that they were wrong and we can't afford to compete for established players. It will be the same old sentiments with "no value" and money in the bank being touted as usual.
Normally merry I'd agree. However I do suspect this summer we will see a major signing and hopefully in CM.
Merry ferguson has never stated that the “We have certain targets in mind at the moment anyway. I think two or three will be fulfilled, there’s no question about that. He has never stated that deals are already virtually done since 08 season. The Glazer haters get it wrong again p.s ferguson also stated “The Glazer family have always been very supportive of our desires to improve the team.” ferguson does not hold back does he?
Even if he has diverted a lot of the money the company is generating to pay for new players and better contracts, there is still much much more which is being diverted to pay for the debt of his ownership.
