He's been fanatstic for us this season yes i know he's been suffering from injuries and loss of form but look at the names on it, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain has only played 9 games for Arsenal, i didn't know players allowed to be nominated for playing half a season.
Gotta go to bale or walker for me sturridge been decent but inconsistent; welbeck not scored enough goals; OX been pretty awesome but like you say not really played enough and i obviously dont want to see a city player win lol
In fact Oxlade-Chamberlain has started just five league games this season and hasn’t played for 90 minutes once. WTF!
Being a foreign player de Gea was always facing an uphill struggle to be nominated. The preference has always been to show that there are good British players coming through, hence Oxo in ahead of de Gea. How many matches has Oxo had a huge influence in? De Gea has saved as many, many points single-handedly with his saves, at the end of the season the "Saves of the season" is going to be the de Gea show.
It is a bit of a surprise Jones isn't on the shortlist considering the list is voted for in January and he had been in pretty good form until around that time, I doubt he would of won it anyway though. I really can't believe Oxlade-Chamberlain makes it on that list ahead of Smalling, who was excellent for the first half of the season and has played a hell of a lot more games that Oxo, and Scott Sinclair who has been a key part of Swansea's success this season.
De Gea was never gonna make it i dont care how great hes been recently he was pretty awful for a while and we cant ignore that. Does seem to be progressing well though atm; although i remember an incident when we played blackburn the other week and he came and got no where near a corner showes he still needs a lot of work
Tbh both lists are a farce. Sturridge is the only player from outside the top four, and there's no way Parker, Hart and AOC have done better than players like Cabaye, Ba, Hoilett, Krul and Vorm. Tho' not sure I'd have Jones, Smalling or De Gea in for YPOTY - if AOC gets dropped then Hoilett should replace him imo, and it's hard to argue in favour of putting our three above any of the other six. Tho' calling Aguero and Bale young players is a bit of a stretch...
De Gea has how many clean sheets? De Gea deserves to be in it and to win it, who else has come over for their first season to take the role of the best keeper the league had and perform like he has. Shakey start but seriously.......the guy is top top class.
11 out of 25 games......NO VIDIC, for months no settled defence. Grief from all angles early in the season.... For me, regardless of the pointless list and award ( scott parker hahahahahahahaha, I fell off my chair ) should go to RVP or Rooney and the YPOTY to nobody as the rightful winner wasnt nominated.
He has been great lately, but his shaky start and the fact the shortlist is voted for in January (I think) is probably why he wasn't considered.
I thought Jones has been poor most of the times I've seen him, but I'd trust the opinions of Man United supporters who watch him every week over a myself, a Newcastle fan who saw him score that comedy own goal. As others have said though total joke that Chamberlain is in it.
Makes it even more of a joke then doesnt it. Hes better than anyone of the young players nominated, his poor start was amplified by the media though, it was nowhere near as poor as made out, the odd mistake but seriously, weve lost 4 games all season.
I don't mind Mike Ashley but I don't think he would have got that many votes regardless of his off field antics
