Arsenal is the gift that keeps on giving! I know that Wigan is no push-over, but if Arsenal had any real pretensions for 3rd spot they'd have beaten them, or at least have drawn. Remember their howls of derision when we were beaten at home by Norwich? Now, Chelsea can do us a massive favour by beating Arsenal, thereby putting 3rd spot within our own hands. If ever the lads needed cheering up and a booster-shot of confidence to the arm, this has got to be it. No more mistakes now, lads! Take this gift that has been given to you, and let's restore some pride to the badge!
Said basically the same thing in another thread,i've said all season we'll finish 3rd and i still think we can,a good preformance is all we need for the confidence to return
I cannot be the only one whose bad spirits were lifted when they learned of the Arsenal v Wigan result If nothing else, it helps to keep some perspective on matters. Harry may get many things wrong, but he's certainly right on one point - there are no easy games, and there are going to be many more twists and turns before the season is over.
Not more bloody twists and turns. Football the game that should be just fun but in fact takes you through all the emotions you never wanted but sometimes, just sometimes makes you feel so good you always come back for more punishment. Just like a woman in fact!
As I said elsewhere, I want Arsenal to win against Chelsea so that the gap to them could widen to 5 points with 4 to play. A draw would do though.
Is this going to end up as another one of HIAG's foot in mouth threads ? Surely you'd want us to beat Chelsea, so that you've got a better chance of finishing in the top 4 ?
My threads will only be "foot in the mouth" (as you delightfully put it) if you finish ahead of us. That isn't a certainty. And if we do finish ahead of you, you had better believe that I shall be publishing my own "PESKIE - moments of hope" thread, just for you! No, definitely not. I want you to lose, always. So long as there is a chance to finish above you, that's what I want to happen, no matter what the cost. And if we cannot win the games we have left, we don't deserve a top 4 slot. I've already resigned myself to that fact, and am quite prepared to live with the consequences, should that transpire.
Eitherway we need to win 4 of our next 5 matches, I reckon. If Chelsea win it's a 4 team battle for 2 places, if you win it's a 2 team battle for 1 place, same difference.
3 team, can't write off Newcastle in that scenario EDIT: Newcastle are the second team I can be v stupid sometimes!
squeeks Totsfan HIAG, you've been good entertainment all season mate, so if you do finish above us, I'll gracefully accept my 'moments of hope' quotes Harry - the avatar is a pic of the late, great Fela Kuti.
The rewards for finishing 3rd rather than 4th are pretty big. For a start half of the CL TV money is based on where you finished the season before. 1st place get 40% of the money, 2nd 30%, 3rd 20% and 4th 10%. So finishing 4th as opposed to 3rd costs a few million quid. (Bear in mind this methodology is only for half of the TV money that is shared around). Another fantastic way that the top clubs manage to hold on to all the power and money that they can and keep the status quo. Plus we would not have the banana skin/distraction of a play-off game in the summer. IF we can see any slight improvement in Spurs' displays I'd love to see Chelsea beat Arsenal.
He was a Legend, both musically and politically - his music changed the political landscape of Nigeria and he was an accomplished writer, political activist and composer. 'Zombie' is a classic Fela Kuti anti-establishment song
HIAG i can always count on you to say the things we spurs fans are thinking with a cheeky smile but then remember "this is spurs we're talking about and no point saying anything as it will just come back to haunt us" ha the team has to start performing and if the lads cant get fired up by arsenal slipping up then there really is no hope left for us
