The problem with Arsenal's mentality

Discussion in 'Arsenal' started by theHotHead, Apr 16, 2012.

  1. We didnt start well, and to say we got hit on the counter is too simplistic. Tell it like it is.

We had possession, Sagna had an easy ball to head to a team mate in space, but fluffed it straight to an opponent. Meanwhile, Benayoun in the centre of the pitch decides to have a chat with bench 35 yards away about another player who might be injured on our team whilst Wigan have the ball. Sagna gets destroyed for pace - as he often does against the faster and more powerful wingers - Wigan score easily. It wasn't just a break away goal - it was a complete lack of concentration and professionalism from us when initially in control of the ball.

The second goal came from comical defending by Sagna, who, being quite weak was easily out muscled and beaten again. Whilst it was a counter - we were actually back in time - it was just Sagna was piss poor.

HH's initial OP stands as the truth, and I can see why it has been discussed by so many. Surely you can too.

I thought we started well and their goals were freak goals and then their time wasting tactics cost us momenteum and the game.

Obviously once 2-0 it will alway be hard. never mind. I still think 3rd is ours surely with chelsea too far back.

I don't know what game you were watching, but we did not start well, we weren't dominating or playing fantastic football until they scored.

We started brightly and were looking for a goal when Walcott's short corner was underhit, that led to Sagna trying to head it back to him and Wigan intercepting, they hit us on the counter.

Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

What was Wenger thinking, sending Walcott on that early?

The problem with Arsenal is that they always try to walk it in!

I'm not sure they wanted it more, we just had no creativity and too many players had a bad night.

Ramsey wasn't the worst player on the pitch at all, not even close, but he provided zilch, same as Benayon, he didn't really do much. Song was the worst player on the pitch and Walcott was a close second. RVP didn't really get much service, Sagna was too busy covering for Djourou which meant he got roast for dinner from Moses every single attack down that side.

With so many players having off games its no wonder we lost.

Piskie and the rest of the Pollyannas seem to be quite content with mediocrity and accuse anyone who doesn't share their mindless optimism of not being a true fan. I will concede that we have been brilliant for parts of the season but I think we are carrying too many inconsistent players at the moment. I would like to see Ramsey sent out on loan and a finished article midfielder brought in. Crucially though, we need to instill a winning, disciplined culture around the club where lack of concentration and commitment are no longer tolerated. This could be achieved by bringing in a replacement for Pat Rice (Arsene's chief yes man) who has fresh ideas and will motivate the players for every single game, not just when they feel like it. Bringing in a few top quality players will create some serious competition for places in the starting 11 and would be a welcome kick up the backside for some of the inconsistent muppets we have in the squad at the moment. <ok>

    Absolute bollocks.

We have different views about our club, but your statement is a very poor one <doh>

I was wondering why Sagna was getting roasted by Moses so much. He is often so solid and hard to get past. That's what happens when you have weaknesses in your back 4...

To be fair, Moses played a blinder. The fact that he gave Sagna such a torrid time, is testament to that.

Actually it's true, you accept mediocrity at this club, and anyone who speaks out against it you and a few of your gang are more than happy to start questioning the fan loyalties of those who speak out.

If you've ever bothered to read any of my posts, you will see where I've said where we need to make changes and improvements. Your sweeping generalisations are both inaccurate and untrue. Show me one post where I've questioned the loyalty of those 'who speak out' ?

I might not agree with them, and it's my right to voice my opinion. If you disagree with my views, you are free to counter them with your own.
