Anyone who slags off Taarabt is wrong. His excellent efforts got us here, He was a victim of some awful management and treatment. Take him out of our team and we don't create anything ... he is QPR and had adapted well to a new manager... he can only get better and he is a world beater ... You should trust your players and Adel Tarrabt is without doubt the best player we have at the club and the best for 20 years .. He is already a QPR legend and will become one of the best.
wouldn't he was a legend yet, don't cut it with the likes of bowles/marsh etc. he's good & i like watching him when he's in the mood, but we carried him a few times last season & can't afford to this year but its too late to worry about that, agreed should not take him off games especially when we are chasing games as might not do nothing for 89mins & then pops up with a piece of brilliance.
That's the way. Ignore the fair criticisms of some aspects of our performance without watching at all and simply go for the most positive assessment you can find. Zamora was better than some armchair fans have given him credit for but should have scored at least once. He did not bring others into play or win that many headers. It was not our day because they all played a bit below par but still produced plenty of chances and good football. However, managers must not be immune from criticism of their tactics. We do not set up an attacking formation away from home as we pack the midfield with defensive players and ball winners and concentrate on closing down rather than creating good chances. We will not score away from home by spraying it sideways and eventually lumping it up to a static centre forward who is waiting for it with a big defender up his backside. When we attack the opposition away from home with the same pace and purpose we will score. The manager should be able to see that.
Agree 100%. We really do have to avoid being drama queens. The performace was not shocking but it certainly did not reach the dizzy heights of the unrealistic expectations of some commentators on this board.
Zamora did pretty well but just missed his chances, if he scored one of them, he would have got MOTM. Thats how fickle the fans are. He was getting quite a bit of abuse. Having said that, Im glad HH is back to provide us with another option.
Sad to hear that Zamora was getting abuse. He played well and got into good scoring positions. Finishing left him down. He is what he is and if we were expecting a prolific striker our expectations were wrong.
Just to be clear, my original point was that we had bugger all chances after Taarabt was taken off. Even though he wasn't at his best, he still created more commotion in WBA's half of the pitch than anyone else. He stirs things up, has good off the ball movement and pulls out defenders. If we'd have kept Taarabt on and introduced HH for another midfielder (maybe Derry) then I think we would have been more dangerous in the last 20 mins. And about our overall performance: I don't think it was that bad but we just weren't assertive enough. We were too defensive and just weren't going for it, which has to be MH's fault ultimately because he dictates the team's approach. No one was particularly poor, apart from SWP (and I'm sad to say that), but we just didn't go for it.
Great debate and a great shame that some can't see the brilliance that Taarabt brings . I personally think he has the most exciting new football brain in this league . I find the opinion of Swords and Queenslander to be well off and I can only back up argument with the amount of mates non QPR who have watched him live and on the box the majority of which have been amazed at his footballing brain . He is unique
Justin...i'm sure i can find easily as many other fans who dont rate tarbs at all. thats not the point really. to you and others he is a magician who may or may not conjure up some magic, to others of us he is just a skilfull footballer who hasnt lived up to his billing. i dont think either camp is wrong based on those views. As for the origional post "Taking Tarbs off was wrong decision" I have to say that based on his replacement, that was a terrible decision from MH. you know my views on AT, but i openly admit that he is (when he feels like it) a very creative force. Now had we replaced him with another creative player (not SWP) i would have agreed with MH decision. Like i said, I watched the game twice - sober!, and i dont think we were as bad as some made out. It was a better performance than we were getting 4 months ago. Just think that too many players (not just AT) had below average games. We cant (as we are finding out) afford to carry 1 player per game, let alone 3-4 in this league, our table position shows that. Anyway, here's to getting behind and supporting ALL of our team...maybe, just maybe we can get out of this...!!
Liking you more and more QL. (And I'm really not, I'm trying desperately not to get involved in this again. But. Here's a question for you. As someone who isn't in the "Taarabt's God camp". Do you think that after fashioning an a entire side around AT last season, devoting an entire clubs resources to giving him a platform on which to perform that Warnock deserved better than the overweight disinterested figure that turned up at the start of this season? Just asking. ) And you and Swords are both right. He's woefully underperformed.
......don't forget last season..........someone please get the stats for the number of times colin sub'd AT after about 70mins or so, last season. COYRsssssssss
