Doni is near his level, but Jones is nowhere near. He was barely good enough for a relegated Middlesbrough side a couple of years back. He did ok at the weekend, but Everton hardly gave him a stern test!

At least you didn't use another "g" word <whistle>

Come on Swarbs. You know I'm a pragmatic soul. Do you really think that was a penalty?

Don't mention the 'G' word. It was a lapse <doh>

I do. I thought Young brought his right foot round to try and make a sharp turn, the defender left his foot hanging out, Young was clipped, felt the contact and went down. Under the rules that's a penalty. I am well aware that many people disagree with me, but then I also thought the Adam one on Rio for Liverpool against Utd was a free kick and many people disagreed with me then. Also the Berbatov one on Agger. Ultimately, it's all a matter of opinion, and we debated (argued?) it to death last night so I have no desire to do the same again <ok>

I should say that I also think the rules should be changed so that contact by a defender on an attacker isn't automatically seen as a foul. But that's another debate entirely.

    Couldn't resist :D

I'll stick to laughing at your premature celebration when Carroll nodded past the post, and the Everton supporting bird who took offence at your very vocal support <ok>

Van Persie for me for his super strong back, not easy carrying the entire Arsenal team all season

Players who've been better than Scott Parker this season:

Alex Song, Michel Vorm, Demba Ba, Clint Dempsey, Grant Holt, Martin Skrtel, Juan Mata, Fabricio Coloccini, Patrice Evra (good season to be fair even though he's a ****), Tim Krul, Yohan Cabaye, Younes Kaboul etc etc.

    Loads more aswell.

As for Oxlade Chamberlain, how many games has he actually started? I just looked and he's started 5 premier league games all season. Ha ha ha shows how media hype influences these decisions.

Surprised (well, not really, in retrospect) that neither Cabaye nor Ba have made the short lists. Newcastle, in terms of performance versus expectations, have been the best team this season. They should have at least one name in there.
Anyone notice how heavily English those lists are too?
7 out of 12 are English, 8 British.

Oh yeah, cos Aguero has been **** recently, hasn't he? He's only scored 4 goals and made 2 assists in his last 2 games. **** bastard.

I think all players have a quiet period some point in the season.

Their wouldn't be any point in having a short list then, would there? Everyone would know who'd won as soon as they saw his name.
