Arsenal vs Wigan Athletic: Match Thread

Discussion in 'Arsenal' started by Sanj, Apr 13, 2012.

  1. I am not, and have not blamed him for the loss. I have pointed out three players who were particularly poor amongst a whole team who folded.

    Song (the worst tonight)
    Sagna
    Ramsey

  2. spot on <ok> Forgot about Walcott, but then on tonight's performance he was easy to forget.

Ramsey was woeful, he just slowed the team's tempo down whenever he touched the ball (if he didn't give it away)

  4. Correct - the apologists seem to think he had a good game <doh>

  5. I thought he was really really bad tonight, but he was great against City. I am afraid he suffers from the same lack of character that runs through our whole team.

Can someone please tell me what has happened with Arteta? We desperately need him back for the game against Chelsea and Stoke. :(

  7. No word yet - but is very worrying. Without a player to control the midfield we look lost.

I reckon we can get between 4 and 6 points in the next 2 games, our attacking tonight wasn't great, but that was all due to the first 2 goals.

Any person knows if you're 2 up against Arsenal you can soak up the pressure and attack on the counter, they gave us nothing to work with and great credit to Wigan, it was very smart. Though, as long as we don't concede early goals, the next 2 games should go well (hopefully).

Hopefully it's just a knock, we really need him back for the Chelsea game. If he's not then I'd start with Rosicky, Benayoun and Song, with Oxo and Walcott on the flanks.

I think Arteta's injury though demonstrates that we still need a replacement for one of Nasri or Fabregas.

I'd take 4 points, 6 would be great. I definitely think we'll take more than the one point that Jayram thinks we'll get.

  14. Don't think so.

The thought of having to actually rely on Ramsey is terrifying.

I think we will beat Chelsea but Stoke can go anyway
But see as how Jayram said we can lose 1 game and still finsh 3rd I say we will beat both of them

  16. Might be more optimistic if Arteta is fit - but with Ramsey in the team, 1 point is being optimistic.

Well done, Wigan. Fully deserved their win. Did not even give us a sniff in the second half. Arteta getting injured was a blow and it cost us the first goal, he could not track the runners and Yossi for some reason decided he will alert the bench to Arteta's injury instead of doing his job. Being two down, we gave everything to get back into it before half-time. Burnt out and you could see the energy levels dropped for the second half. Rosicky sums that up. Need to recover now, but this team does react when under pressure and against the wall' let's hope they do that against Chelsea.

    Yes...so confidence isnpiring
I'm sure if Ramsey read something like this he would be so inspired and play very well?

I agree. I'd rather give Eisfeld a shot, anyone but Ramsey.
