WE have seen it today, playing in first gear, Wigan take the lead deservedly then stings Arsenal into a response.
Why the fcuk is it that we come out and play when stung into a response ? You could see from our determination AFTER the 2nd Wigan goal went in the team stepped up into high gear. Why does it take adversity to make us come out and play ?

This has been our problem for years.

we weren't in first gear. we actually started brightly and had settled into a rhythm. Arteta was injured and so couldn't cover his man on the counter attack, and benayoun was too far behind to catch up. after that goal we were unsettled and they scored straight afterwards. then we got back into the game.

  3. Exactly the problem and precisely what Petit was talking about over the weekend. It's obvious but it still is not being dealt with.

What a silly article - this is going to come back and bite you on the arse if we win.

the problem is we can't defend counter attacks. when the other side break the players just don't know where to run to shepherd the strikers.

  6. The problem for both goals was clearly a lack of concentration. It's exactly the issue Hothead, and many others, including ex players have talked about <ok>

How will it you muppet ? Wigan were better than us comfortably in the first 10 minutes.

And even if we do win how does it change the premise of the article ?? Clown.

exactly- we lose possession or 'give' it away. They run at us, and we concede - over and over again.

We've just put ourselves right back in the champions league battle, a win tonight and there is clear day light, the plus points are that spurs are playing poorly at the moment and we can put chelsea out the race if we win on saturday. But this game just demonstrates that we were missing mertesacker and kos, we will hopefully sign vertonghen in the summer. Our play was too slow, ramsey shouldn't be anywhere near our starting eleven. Walcott showed again that he is ineffective against the lesser teams when they defend deep.

We as a team are pretty ineffective against the smaller teams especially at home and we shouldn't be starting benayoun, he plays well in the big games but is nowhere near consistent enough santos is either brilliant or awful, can't wait til gibbs gets back. All this said wigan were brilliant when they had the ball, i don't care much for the everyone behinds the ball, it annoys the hell out of me, but they were fantastic with the ball. I still wouldn't be surprised if we go and beat chelsea by 2 or 3 next week because we have been immense in the big games this season.

Grow up and drop the insults.

Because we started quite well, but got hit on the counter and never really recovered. We should have played much better in the 2nd half. Very disappointed with our 2nd half performance.

No problem with Arsenal's mentality today, we just got beaten by a better side. I don't think anyone sane can dispute this...

Wigan didn't let us play. They chased after every ball, tackled really well and kept possession really well. We tried but it just didn't happen. Martinez got his tactics and players up to scratch to beat us.

PISKIE saw a different game to everyone else <ok>

The only period we were on top was AFTER going 0-2 down. 2nd half we didn't dominate either. and please explain why this is a "silly article" and how us winning changes the premise of the article itself, I am desperate to see your answer, I shan't hold my breath though seeing as there is no argument to the comments made. Another lost argument for Piskie.

Arsenal's mentality was EXACTLY the reason we lost, we wouldn't have been 0-2 down after 10 minutes if we had the right mentality. It triggered a reaction. Why ? Why did we have to go down 0-2 to get a reaction from the players ?

    Same old same old.

Not rely on Song as a defensive midfielder?

There have been a few articles talking about leadership of late. What we need is a leader who will shout at Benayoun to "get back with your man", to shout at the players to wake up after the first goal went in, to make them know this is unacceptable.

In fact from the off he would've been at the players to not give anything.

Wigan set up very well with their 3-4-3 system. They packed the midfield and stifled our attacks, when they won the ball back they always had an out on the flanks - so they were able to counter well.

Some people want to blame our mentality, Ramsey and anything else they can lay their hands on to whack us with, but the reality is that Wigan played very well tonight and deserved their win.

Song was awful again....its true. For a while I wasn't sure Walcott was playing - then I noticed the boots.
Santos does go walkabout !! Arteta injured, Ramsey sadly no better than of late.

Shucks - 3 points dropped again..
Bloody Wigan were a joy for their supporters and a nightmare for us.

    Wigan were better
We dominated City after our blip vs QPR
Let's do the same vs Chelsea

Not according to Wenger. He disagreed that Wigan were the better team, he said we were unlucky and their 3-4-3 system had nothing to do with the loss.

Completely contradicted what you say <laugh>

    Give it up bloke <ok>
