  1. What is this... 9 goals in 11 reserve games for the lad? (Am i right)

I personally think we should send Shola to the reserves and put Airey on the bench for the Wolves game. Unless Best is injured and out ofcourse.

Phil Airey is a local lad and looks extremely promosing.

Best and Ranger to start against Wolves, Airey and Lovenkrands on the bench.

It's hard to decide who's ****ter between Lovenkrands and Shola, but to be fair, sometimes Lovenkrands plays alright, and has been effective is many more games than just the 5-1 win vs Sunderland like Shola.

Anyway, i think Phil Airey is showing that he deserves atleast a spot on the bench and perhaps 10-15 minutes during the Wolves game.

He's earned it. What the **** has Shola done since his goal vs Wigan, which was the easiest tap in i've ever seen, and in the same match he missed a header from 2 yards?

I know he's been injured but the games he's played since then he's done **** all. He had a decent 10 minutes vs Everton, but that's it.

Another classic, I'll keep my riposte small. The standard of the reserve league is very poor, he wont have proved himself until he goes on loan, and you know full well this would never happen anyway, senior players rarely if ever just become reserves.

Also might I add, people are way over excited about Airey mainly because he is a local lad, and the last one ****ed off at the first opportunity for more money, so I dont hold him in any higher regard than a non local Englishman, or a foreign player just because of where he's from.

Smudger is right. How many times have we seen lads come into the reserves and look like they were the real deal, only for them to be unable to make the step up to the Premier League and disappear. Give the lad time, and a loan move is a very good idea.

I don't think that we will start to really see what this lad is capable of for another couple of years, if we are lucky

I understand where Tash is coming from, even if he can't convey messages calmly!

Ameobi is rubbish. Plays well 1 game in about 15, just enough for some people to justify his selection. I don't see why Airey, or even another youngster shouldn't be given a chance. Its impossible for them to be any less effective than Shola.

I dont understand why we would play a youngster ahead of Ranger who still hasnt had a real chance yet. Best-Ranger partnership IMO, unless we play 4-5-1

I'd prefer Best-Ranger. Anyone but Ameobi.

  10. Shola and Lovenkrands are in their 30's, and they are **** in the PL, we might aswell give the younguns atleast a small portion of a game or two to prove they are worthy!

I'm pessimistic but Airey doesn't look any different to a certain Mr Chopra if you ask me

I have to admit I'll be really annoyed if Ameobi or Lovenkrands start on Saturday. Surely anyone can see that Best and Ranger are better and younger!

  13. Ferguson didn't have nearly as much praise as Phil Airey when he was introduced to the PL. Look what Ferguson has done. Nearly scored twice against Stoke in his first real game, where nearly everyone else was ****e.

Ferguson has shown he's capable of atleast making an impact, which is more than Shola normally brings to the game, Airey has done excellent in the reserves. He deserves his chance.

Carroll came straight from the reserves, Ranger did also. We should let them have a go! If only for 10 minutes!

  14. Best will start if he's fit. Go help us if we have to play another game with Lovenkrands and Ameobi, it's the ****test combination imaginable. Best and Lovenkrands have been the most effective pair so far, it's either than or Best and Ranger for me. No Lovenkrands and Ameobi.

Ferguson had much more promise when he was introduced, he was one of the top prospects at the club and was played in cup games. If Airey wasnt a Geordie or wasnt English you wouldnt be half as excited.

Of course Carroll and Ranger came from the reserves, but so did Ameobi, everyone in football came from a club's reserve team.

  16. I'm not excited because he's a a local lad, although it's a nice thing, i'm excited because of his goals record and his praise from Pardew, who has so far gotten the best from our fringe players and youngsters.

Bottom line is if he was too good for the reserves, he would go on loan to L1 or the CCC. And Carroll didnt come straight from the reserves, he went on loan and was very gradually introduced into the team.

  20. He went on loan to Preston where he played 6 games and scored no goals. It's hardly proving himself at any level.
