Here is the shortlist for the main award:
    Segio Aguero (Man City)
    Joe Hart (Man City)
    Scott Parker (Tottenham)
    Robin van Persie (Arsenal
    Wayne Rooney (Man Utd)
    David Silva (Man City)

Here is the shortlist for the young player award:
    Sergio Aguero (Man City)
    Gareth Bale (Tottenham)
    Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal)
    Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea)
    Kyle Walker (Tottenham)
    Danny Welbeck (Man Utd)

Personally, my vote goes to Robin van Persie, top striker in the league this season and has carried us into 3rd with his goals, assists, all-round play and captaincy.
For young player I think it is Sergio Aguero, as he has clearly been the best in league this season in that list. Didn't realise he was that young though, great potential for the future and the now.

I see again that the players are still only voting for the big names. Really, what has Oxlade-Chamberlain done besides play well in a couple of games? Joe Allen (Swansea) should be there, Grant Holt (Norwich) is a possibility, Cabaye (Newcastle), Ba (Newcastle), Mclean (Sunderland) all are, IMO, ahead of some people on that list this season.

    Debate.

  2. Not even close for player of the year or young player of the year.

Aguero is 23 years old. It is amazing and if he stays here then I have no doubt he will become the best player in the league. But I think the young player award should be for players under 21. But they are not, and Aguero will win that YPOTY award.

As for the main award, RVP by a mile for me. Also, WTF is Parker doing on that list?

  4. Parker? No idea at all. The only thing he has done well is tackle (which is still a good thing), but he trails Faurlin of QPR in that part of the game.

Interesting that 50% of the list are English, with only something like 25% of the players being English. More bias.

Oh, and 5 of the 6, 23 and under are British <doh>

Personally I think Arteta should be in the main list.

Juan Mata, Yaya Toure, Vincent Kompany and Tim Krul. Players that have totally ignored. Parker ahead of Mata and Toure is hilarious.

If Aguero wasn't there I don't know who I would pick for young player.

Every time I watch Parker, he is dreadful.

The hype on this guy is just out of control. Give me a Bobby Moore for England Captain any day of the week. He hardly broke a sweat and never strayed out of position. Instead we get Scott Parker, never stops running and is always in the wrong place.

    Agree with you over Toure.

kyle walker I would. he's played lots of games and done decent in them for his first top season. All the other have been pretty rubbish tbh, with Chamberlain hardly having any game time to deserve to be on the list. Really is a terrible list though, much better players this season have been overlooked.

  9. I can't believe that Joe Allen is not in the Young Players' list

    RVP and Aguero hands down.

  12. Walker did ok - I agree with you - but recently has been dire. How he is being considered for an award I do not know. Take a look as some of the Swansea young players.

Also Szczesny is only 21. If Hart makes the main list then where is Szczesny or Krul for that matter.

I think walker is burnt out from playing every game this season. Walcott should be on young players over Chamberlain - 23 like aguero isn't he?

Yep. But Walcott only started to show his better form after the Spurs game. The voting was probably done by then. But Theo, stats wise, has had a good season.

I'm amazed no Newcastle players made the list, people like Krul, Cabaye, Coloccini have been excellen tthis season, Mata should be there, Toure and Kompany should too.

  16. It's a stupid list made up mainly of British players. One wonders how the players actually vote.

and i came on here expecting you to be biased but fair play to you. obviously RVP for playe and aguero for young player and like you i cant understand how players like ba, yakubu and dempsey haven't made the main list when parker has or krul and mata have when welbeck hasn't been that great or the ox who has been quality but hasn't played enough.

Parker over mata. O dear. Parker has to be the most overrated guy in football. An average mid table player.

  19. Whilst I agree that Parker should not be on this list - keep in mind he has won possession for his team more than any other player in the league (combination of tackles and passes cut out). He's better than average at what he does.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but seeing as Oxo is in there, doesn't Szczesny also deserve a place in the young player category ?
